Plus, if you examine the detail of the 5th N95 pic, the trees above the jetty on the right, it actually looks like its been done with a paint brush, and it highlights things in the trees that aren't even there.
No, the K850i pics are far more true to form.

shame about the size of the k850, first time i have seen comparisson pics (size) compared to n95. it looks a lot bigger than i exspected

In the review above, N95 pictures on the whole are still better than K850 imo.
In the first set, K850 pict is pinkish - white light becomes are pink light. N95 color is more natural albeit slightly oversharpened
In the second, it is blue/purple tint and much more noise in the K850 pict. N95 is also sharper but still have more details.
In 3rd set, N95 looks oversharpen but the details are still much better than K850. You can see the grain on the green leaves whereas K850 is all blurry and very noisy.
In the 4th set, I dont think K850 depict the color correctly. I dont think the orchid looks that pink in real life. N95 is as usual oversharpened but in its oversharpened state N95 photo still produce more details.
In the 5th/6th sets, K850 has the upperhand. N95 looks oversharpened. I suspect that N95 picture mode was set to "sharp".
In 7th, there is no need for argument as N95 photo is much better than the noisy, purple fringed and bluish K850.
In the last, it is a toss-up. K850 is less blurry. However, N95 capture more detail. Look at the right hand side of the picture. You can make out the tree on the N95 but not on the K850.

Some people develop very emotional relationships with their phones. They treat their phones like pets, or even girl-friends in some cases . . .

Looking at the photos in the test, I would probably pick the N95 - but only for 4x6 prints. For A3 sized photos I stick to my i-mobile 902

Let me translate some of the phrases the editor has said.
1st, both phones are set to AUTO mode, no further editings are being made. The 1st 2 sets of photos are taken indoors. As you can see, indoor pics taken by k850 seems not able to pair up to N95 standard. For this we can conclude that light filter for the k850 seems not adequate enough. Therefore causing pics to be a little overexposed. (My views:I agree k850 loses out to this 2 photos, but I do not know what is the actual colour of the logo.The k800i also had this problem, most prob due to normal lens and not Carl Zeiss lens that would otherwise be able to filter more unecessary light exposures.Also, for indoor with fluorescent lamps, pictures tend to come out more blue, same as k800. If set to fluorescent mode, the blue colour can be solved.)
For the next 2 sets of photos, we can see clearly that outdoor shots the k850 wins hands down, but here the advantages apply more from normal to macro shots. The k850's exposure seems just right, colours look natural and details clearly seen. What N95 lacks here is the unnatural colour reproducings and also photos tend to overexpose. And it seems to be opposite from what the k850 produced: k850 tend to overexpose indoor, N95 overexpose outdoors...(My views: For the leaves picture, why did N95 produce pictures of the leaves with additional black linings and dots???
Also, I believe that flower is not an orchid, which I've seen many times in normal bushes in a park. The colour seems more right with k850 rather than N95.)
And from my(editor's) point of view, I preferred the k850i due to it producing more natural looking photos, and most consumers would really suffice with the photos in normal circumstances. Also, be it operating camera menu speed or saving photos, k850i is the faster contender. But we canot deny this- light filtering duty N95 is better than k850i. In some other occasions N95 could have the possibility of taking better pictures than k850. (my view: Look at the pic of the 2 buildings. The one taken by k850 clearly shows more detail s than N95. N95 seems to miss out some details which look the building and pavillion seems intermittent, just like the marking of an envelope which states "Tear Here".)

Top photo taken by k850, bottom taken by coolpix. The last page they displayed night mode taken by both phones, BUT I think they deliberate post shrunken size of k850 twilight mode. (Damn!!! I have not seen even 1 photo taken in twilight mode!!!!!!)

K850 is better than the N95 shots, but thats all that can be said. Both cameras are quite poor IMO, why not stick to 3 megapixel and increase sensor size? 5 megapixels is not giving camera phones any justice!

Hmm the K850i does many things better than the N95.
1. I buy 1 K850i and I can use my 2/2.5/3/3.5G phone ANYWHERE in the world, orignal N95 did NOT do this.
2. I don't have to worry about having enough RAM to run applications (J2ME based) before it'll crash. K850i manages memory VERY well based on a solid platform.
3. Camera is seeming to shape up better.
4. I get the choice of 2 removable memory standards. M2 which is significantly faster in data read/write speeds than MicroSD.
5. I can immediately start dialing a #, with EASE on the K850i. The N95 I must slide in order to dial a number (NEW non phonebook saved).
There a a few others that one can debate, and surely on this forum most will side with the K850i. But you CANNOT deny that the SE GUI - Graphical User Interface IS, if not THE closest by huge margin, the BEST GUI of ALL phones! Placement and arrangement of functions, abilities, settings are right where they SHOULD be; logically & intuitively.
And lastly design! The K850i can do a lot but its STILL designed like a quality phone.
These are the reasons why I KEEP coming back to SE.
