Honami's release firmware will be in the same branch as the recently release Z Ultra firmware, so 4.2.2.
Oh right. Thanks for clearing that up. Still, I was hoping for a surprise at IFA in that it would release with 4.3

Do you know if for 4.3 update Sony merged Z/ZL, Z Ultra and Honami in the same branch?
Considering similar hardware and backwards compatibility of s800 it could be possible although probably unlikely, more probably they keep different branches for s4 Pro and s800 devices.

100% not possible

Probably didn't make myself 100% clear, what I meant is not whole system at the same branch but Sony's customization.
I know that android 4.3 image from qualcomm for s4 pro and s800 are totally different but low-level software written for s800 should be 99% compatible with s4 pro, unless it uses things that aren't available on s4 pro.
It would guarantee the same new UI for Xperia Z with all improvements, that can be applied to s4 pro of course, ex. move to openGL ES 3.0 for Sony UI on 4.3 (just an example, don't know if it will happen).

It is still 100% not happening. I know Xperia Z users are itching for Honami's UI, but Sony will never merge branch of different SOCs.
It's a different team working on different SOC.
However, Xperia Ion merged with Xperia S, though they used the same CPU.

I told you so on July 3rd, page 892
But actually I think this is sad they could not make inroads in international markets.
NEC should also pull out.
I hope for Sharp and Fujitsu they will find a way to sell abroad (I anticipate Softbank will help out sharp through sprint).
Casio and Kyocera are not major players even in Japan, but i heard Casio was strating selling rugged models in us

guys today I went to my local phone store... It was a lot of time since the last time I saw a Z with my eyes and I had it in my hand... so I asked... an boy if it is an awesome device..

I forgot how gorgeous it was... even the display!! and the bezels are little!!!

they are perfect... so I thought if Honami has bezels just a little (really little) bigger... how can the haters complain?? after seeing the Z again I'm sure, Honami is already mine... I grow such a craving for that phone today! luckily there are few day till the 9/4

Don't think Sony can make inroads into North America till they start selling through the 4 major carriers. Was hoping to get the Z1 but if it is not available through ATT I will probably pass and get the Nexus 5 instead.
