The lag between the image and sound while recording videos seems to have been fixed as well. The recording was done on a 4 GB original Sony MS.

My backup isnt working anymore :S Saw that this new firmware was out and got all happy n shit =D
Connected my phone via the USB as usual and cliked the backup icon.
But after the phones has restarted it says that "the phone is not answering anymore" Backup failed!

Ive done backups before without any problems, what should i do now?? =S

Yeah, I've been having the same problem, the m-Router turns pink and the "phone not found" message appears briefly, after which m-Router connects again. I'm assuming it had something to do with the previous phone fw as after update I restored without that problem. Just try a couple of times and turn-off/turn on the P990. That was my solution. I was eventually able to make a backup.

Disconnect phone, turn off, wait a few seconds, turn on the phone. Backup should work. It is a good idea to install the PCSuite version on SE web site, the old one has a lot of problems. Also get the latest version of m-Router from the web (mRouter3Installer_v31042.exe) and install over the one that comes with the PCSuite.
Good luck.

Ok here are my first impressions after spending 15 minutes with the new firmware:

- The phone seems much faster and more responsive, and switching between programs goes much better and faster; nice improvement!
- The bug with the absence of option to delete messages if you open the messaging app in closed mode and then opens the phone, still exists.
- The Videoplayer is _much_ faster and more responsive, opening a 200mb video file takes less than a second, and jumping across the time in the file seems to work flawlessly.
- Opera works much better, and especially with WLAN it flies!

- Multitasking actually works!

Just my two cents, but one thing I recommend: FLASH IT!!!

i wonder what this means for the pc suite:

from intuwave website:

Intuwave Limited (in administration)

Graham Bushby and Geoff Carton Kelly were appointed as joint administrators over the company on 13th of November 2006, to manage its business and assets.

The joint administrators act solely as agents to the company without personal liability.

Hi guys,

I've just started to upgrade the firmware. Everything seems ok for now. The new firmware's name is Generic World 1.

I just want a faster phone. I hope to get it soon

i confirm video improvements: 200mb file now starts instantaniously, and better - you now can advance in the time line without any lag! that was the remaining problem i had with videos (converted with m3) Now the p990 is really an outstanding video player
