SE have time to make a better phone, maybe with some keys for us
sms-ers out their.
kk some really bad stuff about iphone
brick size not convienient
screen scratches really easy
finger touch screen just screems "smudge magnet"
majority of people wont have a hope of using touch screen
sms will be hard to do
teenagers wont by this as they cant afford it, to big cant sms well
looks like an old pda phone

How can anybody comment on how the phone will feel top use or how good the interface is, is beyond me. You've not used it. you've seen a few videos of it. I'm also pretty much certain people will find it a pain to text quickly on but I'll reserve that judgement until I'VE TRIED ONE

They took a whole different approach.
ALL phone manufacturers started creating mobile phones for voice calls, then added some sms's and slowly other features.
In 2007 content is where the big money is!
Now... Let us look at the current mobile phone market. A giant struggle is taking place.
Manufacturers build great phones capable of everything, but that is a "one stop shop". Once you buy the phone the manufacturer has pretty much done its business. Content providers charge so much for UMTS data traffic that manufacturers are not able to deliver content on their phones using that technology. Providers create music, images, screensavers and so on... And make a lot of money out of it.
Apple simply chose to bypass content providers avoiding UMTS alltogether. APPLE delivers content to APPLE phones through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, computer and so on...
Think about it: Wi-Fi is more and more available, Wi-Max is just around the corner and mobile phones will be capable of VoIP.
In my opinion it is not SonyEricsson or Nokia who are worrying right now, but rather Orange, Vodafone, Telefonica and other content providers.
They will be left empty handed if other manufacturers follo Apple in creating "network independent" devices (i.e. devices that allow you to get your content without using the expensive mobile data protocols actually being used).
SonyEricsson did one major mistake, for which Sony is entirely to blame: they failed to capitalize on their content! They only embedded brands and logos on their phones, NOT content. Software has always been a big issue for Sony. Technically their devices are top notch, but usability wise you need a Ph.D. to be able to operate them! (think about a Disc2Phone software which is NOT available for Mac, doesn't allow you to purchase any Sony tunes or MOVIES, doesn't even allow you to create proper playlists to be directly sync-ed to your phone....).
Manufacturers will eventually get the message, whereas operators will be left empty handed...
Apple started creating a phone from a whole different perspective. This device is a content container BEFORE being a mobile phone. It has music, movies, internet, email and everything else and BESIDES all that, you are also able to make calls.
Look at the poll on this website...
How big is the percentage of people making video phone calls? Ridiculous to say the least.
No one is using UMTS as it was thought...
How many of you use PC/Mac or Bluetooth or eventually Wi-Fi to dowload content on their phones?

That is the main point in which Apple did a great job. I bet Apple's phone will not be backed by operators in Europe because for them it will be a huge REVENUE LOSS phone.
No one will use their networks, all the money will go to Apple, since all content will be delievered by them, without using the expensive mobile networks (only the "cheap" GSM net and only for calls and some RSS feeds download).
Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, Motorola will step on the bandwagon if they are smart enough and leave operators with a traffic less UMTS network, getting all the content money.
Apple phone finally goes beyond a silly competition between manufacturers and operators that, in a couple of years, started creating "clone phones" (all Vodafone Live branded phones look the same, regardless of manufacturer) and was a huge disadvantage for customers.
Content is the way to go to make money... Apple realized it with iPod and this pays a lot!
That is how I see things... I am really interested in hearing other opinions as well.
Please not that the schenario I described will take at least a couple of years to take place, but we nevertheless start to see some changes in this regard.
Of course Nokia and Ericsson will have some "internal" issues before a strategy change can take place since they both deliever network hardware to operators...

So the iphone is the end of European Mobile Operators, and GSM will go away because of it??? Please...i thought i heard crazyness enough from apple fanbys

That is not what I wanted to say... What I meant is that the Apple phone will not use networks to download content (it will be done through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and PC/Mac and NOT through UMTS). This content will be delievered by Apple to its users (not by Vodafone or Orange or Telefonica or whatever).
It will put a LOT of pressure on the already very expensive UMTS network, since the big money to pay for the licenses for building these network was meant to come from the content delievered through them.
Failing to recognize this and telling me I am "crazy Mac fanby" is not exactly what I expected when I said I wanted to hear other opinions... On the other hand you are entitled to have your own.
Please DEMONSTRATE that this phone concept (NOT THE APPLE PHONE ITSELF BUT RATHER THE CONCEPT BEHIND IT) will not put operators under a lot of pressure if it is going to be adopded by other manufacturers as well!
I never said GSM is dead... I said UMTS will be... Unless prices drop dramatically.

Handsets in the UK are heavily subsidised and one of the reasons for this is operators DO offer their own content - Orange Music Store etc.
If the iPhone won't allow users to purchase Operators own content, or makes it easier to get it elsewhere, then it simply won't be picked up by the operators.

User content wether provided by network operator or not has never really interested me and the large majority of people still buy a phone to make calls and sms, just like the majority of ipod users dont buy tunes through itunes. So i wont be missing GPRS/UMTS and all that highy overpriced kaka provided services by operators nor will i bebuying tracks through itunes. The iphone looks amaizing(nokia could learn something from this) its got OS X (smartphone) and has the qualities of an ipod. That sounds like a winning combo and is enough for me to wanna go get it. Now if Apple inc could/would start providing quality user content for a decent price i think that Nokia and SE and the lame overpriced operators content are in for the fight of their lives. Cant wait to get it
P.S and if the operators dont pick it up....i honestly dont mind, the trend is that operators are now subsidizing handsets less and less cause they realized that this doesnt lead to any sort of long term customer relationship and its only costing them cash(which they would otherwise try to earn back through services once u sign on) SO if anything Apple picked the right time to jump into the market)

Seriously, this is pretty poor.
It's not really that different to the rest of what's on the market IMO. No 3G, bu the time it's released 3.5G will be becoming mainstream. Camera is probably iffy, battery is going to be sub-par (but for an Apple that's normal
), smsing is going to be a chore and overall, I'd rather pick up a
phone.
I do commend the slimness, but something's gotta give...
