A common mistake seen today within the muslim umah is that at the time of prayer, we start to run to catch a rakah. Prophet (PBUH) ordered us not to do so, as stated from the hadeeth below
Abu Huraira reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) saying: When the Iqama has been pronounced for prayer, do not go running to it, but go walking in tranquillity and pray what you are in time for, and complete what you have missed.
Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When the words of Iqama are pronounced, none of you should run to it (to join the prayer) but walk with tranquillity and dignity, and pray what you are in time for and complete what has gone before (what the Imam has completed).

Another hadeeth to strengthen the above two.
A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: He who finds a prostration before sunset or at dawn (prayer) before the rising (of the sun) he Id fact finds that (prayer), and prostration implies a rak'ah.

Many of us run to catch the first rakah. By doing so, we are not following the sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). We should walk with calmness and join the prayer, as finding a single rakah constitutes towards finding the entire prayer.
May Allah help us in obeying the Quran and the sunah of the Prophet (PBUH)

Hadith Qudsi # 15
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
"Allah the Almighty said:
'I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed."
(1) Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: 'I am as My servant expects Me to be.' The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty.

Good day people
I'm just posting here as a friendly request for someone to shed some light on
this topic regarding a PS3 game which has been delayed due to complaints about there being two lines from the Qur'an used in some bgm.
I'd just like to know from some real people how they feel about this and why it is seen as offensive? If you can help with some explanation over in that topic it'd be much appreciated

Good question and up till now i had no idea of this.
I have heard the audio file and the words are clear and it is true that the 2 verses are from the Holy Quran, the problem that we have with this is that the verses have been mixed with Music which Islam does not allow and thats why its been raised as an issue. If the verses were just simply read out with no music they may have been more leniant i think.
Question i have why this has been done! do they want to provoke the Muslims around the world by doing this?? not that we have enough issues in todays age but every day a new thing arises, its painful to see but i guess Life is a test end of the day and as one of the verses says "Every soul will taste Death".
1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').
2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.
We would also like to mention that this isn't the first time something like this happened in videogames. Nintendo's 1998 hit "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" contained a musical track with islamic phrases, but it was removed in later shipments of the game after Nintendo was contacted by Muslim organizations. Last year, Capcom's "Zack & Wiki" and Activision's "Call of Duty 4" also contained objectionable material offensive to Muslims that was spotted before the release of the final games, and both companies thankfully removed the content.
We hope you act immediately to avoid any confusion and unnecessary controversy, and we thank you for making such an amazing game.

First of all, thank you very much MikLSP for bringing this issue to our attention. I never knew something like this had happened.
Brother PK is absolutely right that the real problem behind this is the mixing of Quranic verses with music. Also, Quran is regarded as the most spiritual and most authentic book ever among Muslims. It is the word of God Himself. It is through this Quran that Muslims get guidance of how we can live our life according to the commandements of God and it would be natural for some Muslims to get mad because of this. To them, it is like disrespecting their religion. I do hope with the sincerity of my heart that SONY removes these verses and that this issue is resolved as peacefully as possibly.

Sounds like Sony are trying to remove it, and will make sense too as many Muslims worldwide use their products, it may have been a unintentional additon to the game from Sony and they may not have known about the verses being added, but if they are to rectify the problem and then release the product it will be better for them and the Muslim world will appreciate this in masses.

Then He explained it [by saying that] "he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed."

One hadith from the Bukhari Shareef, the most authentic Book of Hadith, further confirms unlawfulness of music and singing :
`There will be people of my Ummah who will seek to make lawful; fornication, wine-drinking and the use of ma`aazif ( musical instruments ).`
Detailed analysis of the arabic word `ma`aazif ` shows that it refers to musical instruments, the sounds of those musical instruments and singing with the accompaniment of instruments.
Closer analysis of the wordings of the Hadith establishes the prohibition of music. Firstly, the words `seek to make lawful ` shows that music is not permissible, as logically one can only seek to make lawful that which is not allowed. Secondly, if music was not prohibited, then it would not have been brought within the same context as fornication and wine-drinking.

There is a book called 'Jewel Of Medina' written by the American, Sherry Jones which tells the story of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). It is said to be based on 'facts from history' and told told as a fictional story.
I have read parts of the book and it is one of the greatest insults to Islam, even greater than the Danish cartoons. If a non-Muslim were to read this book, they would instantly believe the worst of our beloved Prophet and his wife.
I do not want to go into detail but it is filthy and breaks my heart to read such a thing. It has been widely condemned but as a result, but is getting a lot of publicity. Many people are talking about freedom of speech and those who have read it have very strong messages againt Islam.
Islam is being attacked in many ways. Muslims are physically attacked in Iraq, Palestine, Pakistan etc. Now the focus is on our beliefs in a bid to get Muslims to accept the insults, to force a change towards 'Western Islam'. We need to strengthen our Imaan, accept and propogate true Islam.
If I were to give some parts of the book out, it would make your blood boil but this is not my intention. Just be aware and do not tolerate such filth. DO NOT act offensively, but do make your voice heard. Its the least we can do. If someone were to say such things about my family, I would act immediately so this is our beloved Prophet and his wife who we should love more than our parents; these attacks on Islam must stop.
