I was hoping Sony Ericsson would give us the Western version of KDDI AU S001 with the 3'3" inch AMOLED screen and brilliant design (a classic and cool beauty compared to the Aino), instead we get this confused halfbreed. Not quite a touchscreen phone, not quite a classic slider.

This phone looks brilliant and very classy. Well done SE for this. Good stuff!
The S001 is a sheer beauty. It is marketed as "The First Class" in Japan and that's for a reason. I would jump at the opportunity to get the likes of it.
However, the AINO is stunning too. Still I would trade the gimmicky PS3 integration (
is that really a genuinely marketable feature in the first place...?) any minute for a front d-pad. Some of us don't fancy opening the phone to answer calls or do simple navigation tasks.
@Mizzle. If true, fuller touch integration is truly good news. Thanks!

Actually Miz said its A3. What is it? A2 A3 or A2.5?
it's the platform the phones work.
old phones are A100(aka a1. db2000, db2010, db2012 and db2020). C702, C905, W902, K850, etc. are A200(db3150 and db3210). these are A300, what mizzle wanted to say

So the A300 is still under developing?
One thing which desapionts me is that the a300 platform still doesn't support reading Xls and Doc files. Is it so difficult to add office pack in a phone,
?

Dont see the point in the PS3 integration thing, the whole idea behind the aino is so that you can store all your media one one device, why would you need to access it using another device, when you can supposodley store everything you want on the Aino?? If the aino really wanted the edge they should allow users to play games on there ps3 on there aino, although im sure once the Aino comes out some one will find away to modd the aino so that it can play games on the PS3.

Reading this thread I'd say...
About the new full touch firmware I wouldn't be so optimistic, rarely they improved so much a phone after the announcement... For sure it would be a nice thing but, it's SE, you know...
I think that the tab settings were removed because of the 6th element introduced, the user guide (i remember i read somewhere SE would put only electronic manuals in phones to be more ecological) and not for the touch, but maybe I am wrong... However I liked tabbed settings, they were well arranged...
About the A3 discussion... Even if I'm not so informed, I have a different opinion... I know better the DB distinctions like DB3150, Db3210 etc, and for sure this is a new version of this platform but I don't know if it's possible to call it A3 or still A2... i.e. already the C905 had an upgraded platform but was referred to as A2... Some innovations are always there... (however the T650 was A1 not A2)
Last thing... Am I the only to see some W595 design elements in the Aino?! Maybe the colour??

Yea, it looks like W595, because of the form is almost the same - in the both phones the bottom and the top parts go thiner and thiner. You can se this when you're watching the phone sideway.
Maybe the platform isn't A3. Why not to be updated A2 ( W910 => W760 => C905 => Aino)?

The colour more or less, but the curvy edges surely ring the W595 bell.
As to the AINO PS3 connectivity, it sounds good without a doubt, seems to work, as shown in the Thurseday's presentation video, but my point is that many people who would otherwise consider the AINO may not own a PS3 and the fact that the phone sports such a feature will raise its price considerably. So, it may not be the hit
very much need to stay afloat, despite the handset's other features and good looks that could contribute to its success. They could have put a Xenon flash and a more touch friendly UI instead, which could have made it a true younger sibling of Satio with the well-loved
feature phone interface, a lower price tag and consequently broader consumer target group.
Cheers!

Because a full length, BR quality movie would be several gigs in size and it'd be foolish to store it on a phone. The PS3 can hold all your media, the phone reads it, downsizes it on the fly and plays it.
PS3 level gameplay requires way more firepower than a phone can provide.

Not 100% sure, but it seems to be the same module as the one in the C905/ W995. It wouldn't make financial sense to make 2 different modules for the same resolution. (The one in the C905 IS the 8MP Exmor).
