reg the comparison
see the group photo...
in Ixus there is a light source on the right side that surely affect the Ixus performance.
whereas in w995 the light has been fully hidden by the person standing on the right side..
also...
for the full size w995 pics doesn't look good..
also if shoot high contrasted pics it must be having purple fringing.. even in most of the photos invisibly in normal size..
take a car rims u'll be getting it clearly..
this friging problem totally spoiling the picture quality and hate it totally.
its mainly because of the lens quality...
so i'm thinking whether c905 sensor is comatible with w995...
if u have any idea of those sensors just share to me... so that i can plan to do that..

Ixus
W995
No more light, infact there's a tinge of that same light in the W995 photo but it was unfazed
Are you happy now? I've got a lot more where that came from if you want
I'm not saying in any way that W995 is better than a digicam, I'm just saying it's not THAT bad if it can look better than some digicams some of the time.

Doesn't look good in comparison to what? Your definition of 'good' would help us a lot in resolving this. Give me a list of camera phones that look good in full size in low light. Even if you manage to do that, we'll have to categorize W995 as one of the best because it wouldn't be much of a list. Purple fringing should not be an issue though as I don't have that problem, again, please look at all the pictures I posted here and in the photos section, I'm puzzled by your obsession with purple fringing. It can be controlled if you know how to, meaning it is a non-issue if you get rid of it. I couldn't get rid of the purple fringing on my W902 where it matters and there were no means of controlling it, now this would be a real issue. I do however get blue fringing which I have no problem with since I guess the wavelength is much more subdued than its purple counterpart.

In full size pics none of t phone look very good. Ya agree but wy w995 looks bad than other phones say C905 or C901 or n86?. They pulls more details.
And i'm sure all w995 should be having purple fringing problem. If your not means thats a miracle. If so take a photo of window behind some sunlight or take a car's shining parts. I'll show you the fringing. And I'll show you the fringing my side tomorrow.
Actually this thread should show how the w995 camera good and bad so that people planning to buy this mobile may not be misguided. And a fact that SE must know.

I bet you W995 will look better than C901 where it matters- in 3R-4R photo prints. That's why we take photos in the first place remember? The guys at the photo store didn't believe my photos came from a phone, how could they, the colour, the saturation, the sharpness, the contrast, the details...try it dude, just make sure it's a good printing store and you'll be a believer
And have you actually seen N86 low light pics with the crap watercolour effect? Ughh...

Yes, there should be the good and the bad but I guess there are enough photos from the others here that show the inferior side of W995 don't you agree? I take pride in my photos as such I shall continue posting my chosen examples

@mode ... wow, is something wrong with your IXUS, cos they are really bad photos! Are you sure you've got everything on the standard auto settings? ...Crazy!
Also, did you get a tv-out cable with your C905? Do you know if it works with the W995?
@ idumbkumar ... The GSM arena review tested the C905 and the W995 and the camera on the C905 is supposed to be better, so maybe there's some variation for you due to testing with different firmware... I dunno. They did mention they tested using a beta version of the phone too.
On a side note, does anyone know whether the C903 (cheaper phone I know) is good at photos?

Regarding the Ixus, it wasn't mine so when I saw the pics I felt something was amiss so I cleaned the lens anyway and tinkered with the setting but it didn't even turn out decent! I'm posting these comparison shots at the expense of my credibility but cameras don't lie and that's what I got.
Unless GSMArena updated their W995 review then their result was based on a pre-release unit which is inaccurate in representing the retail ones. C905 is still better though but not that far ahead either. But Xenon makes it the ultimate winner.
No TV out cable is supplied because it doesn't support TV out in the first place.
I've been defending W995 lately simply because I feel that it's not getting the credit it deserves, just jeers and condemnation probably due to the GSMArena pre-release review and inexperienced users. It's a great yet very misunderstood phone really. But as I've mentioned a number of times before it does need some get to know period before it can fly, and it's not the easiest phone to work with in the beginning, I made that clear so as not to mislead anyone
Regarding C903, if you're happy with the C902 performance, you should go for it since it sports the same cam module

@mode: Im with you on that one, the same happens with my C702, although its camera is below average for a Cybershot unit, i've found that tweaking the settings a bit you can get slightly better pictures out of it... i think the same could apply to the W995...
I'm constantly checking the Aino picture thread, waiting for low light pictures with and without flash to compare... because i've read somewhere here at Esato, that the camera module in the Aino is better than the one in the W995...

Ditto. GSMArena tends to be biased towards Nokia, just my observation.

Quite unsurprising. W995 is terrrible in full Auto setting especially in daylight. Except for the low light photos I place it last
