i don't even know what that means... can i use whatever headphones i want or not?
anyway, i'll be waiting til second half of 2012 to see the true flagship ... if it doesn't impress or simply doesn't appear, then i'll pick up the S at a discounted (at that time) price. Win Win...
I just have to chug along with my x10 for now...

it basically is the type of headphone jack, iPhone uses a type so that both left and right sound and the microphone can be used. SE did this in their 2011 lineup but it was different in that it could also be used with livesound headphones, the livekey button etc.

Technically, that's true. It wasn't Eldar who wrote the review but Sergey Kuzmin.

This means that IPhone compatible headphones that previously did no work with SE phones will now work with the new 2012 line up. It also means that SE headphones complient with the 2011 line up will not work with the 2012 line up.

No, since there are still two different standards (or scools) for headphone connectors (they look the same but the ground and mic pin's are placed differently in these two "standards").

I'd say some phone dedicated headsets might not work because of the microphone technology/connectors implemented.
But all the headphones for music will work, just like with any other phone and iPhone too.
