1.There won't be any teardown.
2. Sharing the same panel does not mean same image quality. Z/ZL have lots of other tech to differentiate from Droid DNA. Also they have sensor on lens technology like Xperia V. But the basic panel is the same.
Btw on topic,
Xperia Z now No.2 most popular device on GSMArena !!! No.1 is an Indian phone.

IPS (In-Plane Switching technology) panel is a technology used for liquid crystal displays (LCDs).
It was invented to solve the main limitations of TN-matrices at the time: relatively slow response times,
small viewing angles and low-quality color reproduction. In-Plane Switching involves arranging and switching the molecules of the liquid crystal (LC) layer between the glass substrates essentially in a plane parallel to these glass plates.
simply Z and ZL use TN panel, not IPS... when you have IPS you dont have big problem with viewing angles.

Oh really?
Show me a page on JDI website or ANY display manufacturer that makes
5 inch TN 1080p panels, then I will believe you
And anyway, no site said Z/ZL have poor viewing angles, but they only said the viewing angles are not as good as SUPER AMOLED or HTC screens.
Do you know what is a TN panel ?????? The one used in Xperia Tipo !!!!

I have never seen an IPS screen that had poor viewing angles like all the Sony phones have. It is not a problem for me but a fact is a fact.

Regarding the viewing angles Akira on neogaf had a interesting theory:
"The Xperia Z and ZL panel is a "Neo-IPS" panel from Japan Display Inc. and is the same S-LCD3 panel that the Droid DNA uses, the only difference maybe being the Sony Opticontrast resin layer that reduces glare and improves the contrast. Perhaps this layer is making the viewing angles worse or the reports are overblown. (...)"
Another comment from kharma45 pointed out that this is similar to Nokia's clearblack filter which according to him also decreases viewing angles for better contrast (I thought clearblack gave better viewing angles but I have no idea, never held a phone with it)
My own theory is that wallpaper. Dont know how many comments I've read where people complain about the "bad greyish screen". Its a cool wallpaper but it totally sucks when you want to show off the screen, especially on hands-on videos. Even I think the screen looks like crap with it, it needs to go

I'm pretty sure a lot of users would prefer better contrast than wide viewing angles anyway, if the difference can be discerned by an average user that is. Besides, why would someone tilt the phone to an angle that is uncomfortable to hold?

Here the screen looks good too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuRYKS60XKI SERIOUSLY guys, I think the display looks washed out sometimes because of the gray wallpaper. Other wallpapers looks stunning on xperia z and the colours are vibrants
