I was thinking about it, but I worry a poor quality protector would ruin the camera photo quality. quality of the glass is everything when it comes to photography, after all.
i would be very interested in a quality lens protector that is also a polarizing filter. That would be amazing. But I doubt that exists. Especially for a phone that doesn't have many units sold worldwide.

To be honest, I'd be interested in using a lens protector, as long as it was a good one. Also, have you seen those protectors for the area around the USB port? I think they need a flat surface, so might not work on the XM8.

It keeps the area around the port from getting scratched. It might be too much for some but my Xperia 1 m5 was pretty scratched.

Oh interesting. Mine seems okay. Given the surface finish on the m8, probably not needed? also, it probably wouldn't look nice because it's a rough texture.

I placed my order for a japanese 16/512gb red model.
let's hope everything goes smoothly. as of right now, they have ordered everything and now I wait for it to be delivered to their warehouse.
i'm interested to see what type of duty fees they will charge me.
I'll need to switch providers too. hopefully in 2-3 weeks, I will have a beautiful and perfectly working 1m8!

Since April 2026, buyee says it charges duty fees based on the product/item category. They previously had a blanket 15.5% duty fee charge. The emails they sent me to confirm their purchase includes quotes based on the 15.5% fee.
Smartphones are exempt from import fees in the US, which is good.
I will contact them again once they receive the devices and I can see the actual shipping estimates and fees. But hopefully, they charge the correct duty fees for the things I ordered.

No, it was 25% import VAT, and that applies to all goods you buy from outside the EU.
But with customs you never know.
In January, I bought two LPs from Japan, and they cost a total of $1,180. That package cleared customs without me having to pay import VAT.
It was an exception that happens sometimes, but not often. For most purchases I make, I have to pay import VAT.
