im sorry to hear that. I still have a portrait of my parents when they were together hung above my computer. divorce is hell need your support and dont ever take your wife to be for granted. We all need to learn to enjoy those that are there everyday a bit more. take care

Yes, that is sad, sorry to hear that! news like that always comes as a a bit of a shock - a friend of mine split with her boyfriend recently - I always thought they were the 'together forever' types!

@gelfen - Eheeeeeeem . . . maybe it's time to re-consider your plans of marrying after that news from your best friend

, should 'live-in' be considered here

Well, I just hope that all will be for a lasting commitment - let's pray hard for it mates

Support your Best Man/Friend, but please do not let his life & problems deter you from YOUR plans to marry, especially if you and your fiance are in love. It sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with her and some solid plans for your future. Those are important for a successful marriage.

thanks everyone for your kind words.
to cease all speculation, i have absolutely no intention of not marrying my fiance. the situation concerning my friend came as a bit of a shock (although listening to him talk about it the reasons are quite understandable) and such news is never good regardless of the merit behind the decision.
my fiance and i had a good long talk about the realities of divorce and decided that my friend's situation in no way applied to us. however, it did reinforce the possibilities we face if we don't continue to work at our relationship.
