Hi guys (and Girls if any),

I got the K700i on Voda in the UK for 5days now. Here's my findings:

Battery seems ok-ish I get 2-3days worth if I dont use it excessively.

MP3 sounds that I got with the phone can NOT be used as ring-tones - is this normal, do you have the same problem? Neither can I use any MP3's that I load myself, except listen to them which is ok for a mp3 player I suppose.

I have the same problem as some other members with the clock dissappearing when in standby and the phone just giving a blank screen.

Holding in the back button does not lock the keypad.

I cannot disable the bloody internet button - this sucks...

Bluetooth sometimes locks and I cannot switch it off - thus far I find it integrates rather well with FMA (Floats Media Agent) allthough I still would like a software app that links directly to my calender as I hate outlook.

No sticky #2 key (yet).

Apparently the cover at the bottom can be removed if you open-up the phone - not there yet, still trying to keep all the seals in-tact incase I need to have it replaced.

Vodafone software absolutely sucks, cannot edit or delete loads of stuff and some vodafone menu's refer to the K700 as a T610!!!

Thats it thus far - let me know if you know about new firmware and where to get it asap in the UK!

Cheers

fyford, pretty much everything you've listed is down to Voda Live customisations. they've completely castrated the handset

your best course of action would be to take it back and move to O2 or Orange, where you'll get a fully featured handset... this advice goes out to everyone who was unfortunate enough to buy their phone on Vodafone...

my Orange handset has everything it should, bar the option to customise the shortcuts (doubt they intentionally left this out though...)

There is a separate thread describing the MP3 problem on VF phones. As the guy above said, buy an unbranded K700. Once the operators start messing with the FW everything seem to become fu*cked up.

I've just bought a K700 on Orange in UK, the battery says 700mAh (model no. BST-35)

As long the problems arenīt hardware and there are firmware updates no problem

First firmware versions are always crap - T610 was horrible in R1A and only R1L (the second firmware version in Portugal) was steady. But the "real" good firmware was R3C (and then R4B tuned a little more). The second firmware (should be out within a month or two) should eliminate most the problems.

@friends-with-K700-from-VF:

My T610 was from VF and I promised myself that I would NEVER buy another terminal from VF until they stop F*cking mobiles!!! I bought a Terminator and flashed my T610 with original software => MILES AWAY BETTER... trust me... MILES, AND MILES, AND MILES, AND MILES!!! I can assure you that your mobile is, at least, 15-25% blocked (let me guess... horrible menus, functions missing, functions limited, less memory, lots of stuff that canīt be deleted...)

problem number 489: when you scroll down to the bottom of a text the reply key turns into "call" and scrolling up doesn't get rid of it.

490: you can't post a note from the right soft key menu. and when you do eventually post one you then have to press more and show in desktop or whatever.

I'm sorry to say I too am getting disappearing phone numbers!
I have a theory but haven't tested it yet. I think it may be when I create a new number for a contact and then lookup the number from an existing contact. This is done to bring all the numbers for one person into one contact. When the original contact is deleted (the one which I copied the number from) the number then disappears from the new contact. Like I say this is still a theory and I haven't had a chance to test it but it makes sense.
Any thoughts on my theory?
