From Sony:

Sony’s original By Pixel Super Resolution technology assists Cyber-shot in zooming up to 10x* without decreasing pixel count, giving photos a crisp, high-resolution feel that is nearly identical to optical zoom. Cyber-shot first zooms optically to the maximum optical magnification, then employs By Pixel Super Resolution technology to enlarge the image an additional 2x, producing sharp, clear images despite the increased zoom ratio. And by combining this function with digital zoom, up to 20x zoom* can be achieved.

based on my experience with A58 on a certain Sony store here, Clea Image Zoom is just a little bit better than the standard digital zoom, 808/1020Pureview's zoom is on a whole different league

I wonder if that BIONZ chip is just an abstraction layer run by the S800 chip or a true dedicated HW ISP chip. nevertheless the output should be the same, just that the HW based one might have higher performance than just a software emulation

That sucks, was hoping to get better audio quality out of the Z1. Mind explaining the "Pluse LED flash", which I assume should be "Pulse LED flash"?

Just copied from the document I recieved.
They called it "Flash/Pulsed LED".

So is the flash better than the one on the Z?

Here's another interesting line:
"Indeed, independent testing has confirmed that Xperia Z1 provides the best overall image quality of all leading smartphones."

@randomuser
Thought it was something new since it had such a flashy name and don't recall ever hearing that name either.

@unknownC151A
