I have gone through the old K850i White paper r2a (Aug 07 Released) and checked it with the K850 White Paper R3a (Jan 08 Released), this has just been released.
The paper is normally only release when changes have been or going to be made shortly to the firmware
Ok here are my findings
In R3A paper,
Copyright Protection – DRM
They have added, Microsoft DRM Janus, Microsoft DRM Camese
In R3A Paper
Music Player and Effects:
This has been removed completely
In R3A Paper
Video Call Time:
This has been increased to a Target of up to 2 hours and 30mins
In R3A Paper
Real Player 9 and 10 has been introduced to be supported by the K850. This in addition to Real player 8
In R3A Paper
Audio Encoding
Removal of AMR-WB+
In R3A Paper
Java 3D
This has been increased from JSR-139 to JSR-239
In R3A Paper
Video Telephony
If you are using your 5mb camera for a video call, Digital zoom has increased from 2x zoom to 16x zoom
There are other minor changes and some word corrections but thats it.
I still cant tell you when the release is going to take place, but i understand its quite soon.
Hope this helps everyone out
Also the following 4 phones have new firmwares coming out in the next couple of weeks
K630i, K850i, V640i, or W910i

I know it was mentioned before but was there any evidence proving existence of Quicksilver black edition? Like in this new whitepaper..

@kenoby
The whitepaper mentions the colours of the k850i as green, blue and also mentions Midnight Black, so confirming existence of the new colour

Hi Folks
This is my First Post so I'll Keep it short. At what point can you remove your finger from the "C" key During a Firmware update, Recently Updated my O2 K850i from 029 to 038 Via SEUS, But held "C" the whole way through and My thumb was aching by the end (20 min - Well, felt like forever!!!)
Thanx.

Cheers. Was worried I would halt the upgrade if I lifted my thumb. Ah well at least I'll know for the future upgrade.

I am not sure if white papers are supposed to disclose every change in a firmware update, but if those are it, I am dissapointed.
Removing the effects on the music player basically admits SE's mistake on their part by not improving the hardware associated with the phone, and the need to reduce the glimmer to make it run up to speed. My hopes of having improved menu speed similar to the K800i are going down the tubes.
One other thing I found, let me know if R1DA038 fixes this:
Go to camera mode with the rocker switch to the "play" sign, where you view photos. Zoom into any picture, and let the phone run into sleep mode. Try waking up the phone. Can't right? You have to press the "call end" button to wake it up, which quits the whole damn application. So when I'm looking at a map while driving, this is a BIG hassle. Hope this is fixed.

You don't need to hold the C Button all the way. Just as it says release the c button
