Might be a bit soon for a new Compact, although if the rumours
are true, and they release a slew of new phones in 2018 then I am REALLY looking forward to seeing the new design.
I think it's safe to say that the omni-balance design, although attractive, does not excite many reviewers and I'm pretty excited to see what they're going to conjure up.

I hope Sony stick to LCD for their 2018 flagships. After seeing pixel 2 xl and LG V30's display drama It has reinforces my belief that high quality LCD is much
MUCH better than 2nd class oled.
Move to oled when JDI perfect their own oled tech. JDI is going to produce their own oled in 2019 so I don't want to see any xperia phone with oled screen before 2019 . I don't want Sony to rush and use problematic oled panels. I don't want Sony to go through this kind of bad press.

I dont stand this lcd amoled poled war.
i have a xz1 and its absolutely a nice screen. Every screen on the market is almost good to watch as any other.
my lcd sceen has deep black and nice color. i put the black side by side with a note 8 and the note8 wins for just a little bit, almost unnoticeable.
i think people make a lot of drama about the screens...

I think I'm satisfy with current display quality. Just want a bit bigger size and thin bezel.

@profyler, I know. Well some people like ganjith can't live without OLED panel. Even the latest and greatest oled display (note
shows color shifting, though, not as bad as pixel 2 xl and has burn in problem. They really like the POP in amoled screen. amoled does look nice - i'll give them that. But I'm absolutely fine with great quality lcd.

Me too, The thing about OLED is that they have potential, but to reach that you must pay more or face QC issue's.. LCD is just a proven technology and OLED still needs more time for a really mass market while maintaining the required quality in a good price.
The thing I like more about OLED ( beside the thinner profile ) is the ability to have a real always-on display. but again you have to be picky and have strict QC in order to avoid burn-in issues.

My X Performance is dead so I had a look at the available Sony phones and didn't find anything that I'd like. XZP is too big and I'm scared to buy the XZ1 Compact for the distortion, even some of the older phones like the XZ are still too expensive for what they offer. I've really got my fingers crossed for some truly desirable phones in 2018, I've got an Xperia X coming tomorrow so that should keep me going until IFA next year. I was so close to the XZP but the rumors of the next one at MWC have stopped me. I have my heart set on the next Compact though since Sony is back to putting the top end specs in.
Android 8 Oreo make available to XZP come with Lenses Correction. Rest of IMX400 likely to update soon.
After dead of Z3 Compact last year, I gladly upgrade to XZ and keep it this year to see next design language.
Only if the compact available in 128GB ROM / Dual 4G VoLTE and sub 9mm thickness I would think twice about it
As of current OLED's drama, would be interesting to see how iPhone X's display would perform
But Samsung's OLED usually have pixel breed/distortion in latter of time Note 5 purple / S7e pink line though.
