Like you say, all UIs have their pros and cons. I am not saying S60 is the best, but saying K850/SE UI is the best is a bit overstretching it.
Well it's the best suited to my preference, and many people agree with me, by no means are SE UI fans in short supply. Prom1 and I are not a dying breed I assure you
But of course the UI won't be to everyone's preference.
It is your low quality (or screwed) memory card problem. I had the same issue when I use a cheepo memory card. Once i switched to a sandisk one, the video is smooth flowing (no pause). You may also try defragmenting your memory card to see whether this helps.
it happens on internal memory also. imho the phone ought to be able to record video atleast on internal memory if not on the memory card that was supplied with the phone (a Nokia memory card).
Eventually I will get myself a 2GB or so card for it, so I'll see how it goes then. btw, I don't buy cheap memory cards, it's false economy

In this case you must have some active background apps/processes that are competing with video recorder for processor time. Close your IM or similar apps may help
sorry for the off-topic

Sorry mib, no background apps

I appreciate the tips, but I know enough about phones not to overlook something so simple as that my friend. I got the Lemon N70. It's on the latest firmware too.
At this rate, I'm better off with the K850 video

N70 runs on the old symbian. No need to say anything about it. The Symbian 9.1 is far better than the Symbian 8.xx
And you tell me one NEW thing K850 brings to the table? Name ONE! Same UI, that most people are getting bored off, sub standard video recording (all major brands have VGA capable phones). 2MP increase from K800 without any noticeable increase in picture quality. Whatever SE does has already been done before.
Nokia brought GPS to a main stream phone, previously, i guess only PDA's had it, not sure. 2.6'' screen, the first ever for a hard screen phone (excluding black berrys) Dual slider, again the first ever. 3.5mm jack, that SE is scared to use. 160MB internal memory, 3x -4x bigger than K850. VGA video at 30FPS, which SE phone can do the same? N-Gage platform, what about gaming on K850?
P.S the only time my N71 suffers from low memory is when i'm opening a full HTML page on nokia's brilliant browser(compared to SE's pathetic one) and listening to music.

Hmm good point. The N95 is a great phone, and I would much rather get it than the K850. But the internal memory? The W900 had more + a full size mem card.

Just wonder why all sample K850 videos has 15fps. So how confident is anyone that the production really will have
QVGA@30fps and not 15fps. Maybe everybody misunderstood the 30fps. Maybe SE meant to say "upto 30fps" and not "constant 30fps" (i.e. you can only achieve 30fps when there is very little movement between frames). Seems strange at this late in time no 30fps video has ever turn up.
btw: you are a true blue SE fans. You can even accept such bad quality video with total compliant. bravo.

Overall the N95 has more features than the K850, whose arguing it doesn't. You want to line two phones up side by side and say this one has more box's ticked therefore it's the best phone for everyone. You can't compare K850 to N95 on those grounds. One is a smartphone one is not.
But the fact remains that K850 does have some things going for it that enable it to compete with smartphones on some levels. It depends on the market, and you like to real off big lists of things that a phone can do, but people don't buy phones like that. People buy the phone that 1. does what they want it to, 2. they like it's styling. How feature packed the phone is comes a distant 3rd.
I'm not trying to say the N95 is better than the K850, I never have. All I'm trying to say us I prefer it for myself. If someone came to me and said "Max, whadya want, this here K850, or this N95?", I'd have to say K850. Simple. What you or anyone else does is up to them.

Funny that, I can browse a full html website with my K800 while listening to music without any performance hit on browsing (I could even be running several java apps in the background). Fancy that... :lol
I reckon that sounds like pretty poor memory performance if you ask me

I suppose your "full html" has many items (like flash) missing from the page.

Netfront has loads of problems when page size is greater than 250-300kb and it lacks the features compared to the new s60 browser..
Its simply pointless to compare features of both, N95 is really ahead..
and remember N95 8GB almost solves the RAM issue..
Camera might be the only saving grace for K850,at least initially owing to high cost at release.
