every person that i know who has a high end phone uses the high end features, so its more than just a status symbol, its staying in communication all the time. weather its through GPRS or EDGE, wifi, MS OUTLOOK, anything, most people use it.
out of curiosity, what phone do you have?

I have the treo 650, and use outlook, word, and many more features that "low end and mid range" phones do not have.

as for @REO, i know he uses his K-JAM for many things, and he uses the features too.

i just want to point out that it is NOT a status symbol. im sure there are a few people out there (well, im REAL SURE), many people use it as a status symbol actually, mainly teenagers, but as for most of us here at esato, we use the features proudly.

what can I say REO is a classy guy.

Here is a cut & paste, his comment about Americans in terms of cell phone technology. Read on, for that I’m out.

“No expandable memory....... I've said it before, American's are ignorant to cell phone technology. The reason for non-expandable memory is, because americans could care less about memory cards.

The mentality is: A phone is simply to make phone calls. Anything extra, is accepted as nice features. This frustrates me.

Hence why there is not a demand for phones with all the bells and whistles.

I need all the technology I can get in a phone. I don't care to pay a little more if I can get all the tools I need.

Not all Americans think like I do.”

@Marino

Before you cut and paste and old post, make sure to stay in context.
The reason for that post was my frustration with launch dates in the U.S.A. and how many Americans settle for cheap phones.

How ever, take guys like myself , EastCoastStar, Knight4led, Residentevil, etc..... in The USA. We use our phones to there full potential and then some. My S710 and K Jam are not for your average cell phone users.

My K Jam has a 2gig card..... Hmmmm why would I need that??????

hmmmmm perhaps to watch movies, listen to MP 3's , Answer corporate e-mails, talk with relatives through MSN messenger. Read powerpoint presentations while on my way to a business trip, shoot of e-mails to clients, play games at the airport, read news via WIFI, shoot some pics with the 1.3 MP cam, listen to music via the internet. track expenses with excel.

Does that sound like I would use it as a status symbol ?

The general American uses a simple phone, while munching down a huge hamburger with fries, but flushing it down with a diet soda.

@REO

What blows my steam off was reading Post ragging your side of the aisles technology. They think having a high-end cell phone and functional knowledge about it they are better or knowledgeable enough about cell phone technology.

That’s an Old School/Basic application not even enough to impress some one that works in High Tech here in Silicon Valley.

I feel for your frustration, but for your information REO is not an American technology so don’t take it to the Americans.

@Marino

Take your Silicon Valley BS else where. Get your self an Idiot's guide to forum conversation.

Or only post when sober. I wasn't trying to impress you, just giving you an Idea of what some of us like in our toys.

You're probably posting from a public library and live in a rundown shack in East LA. Don't give me that Silicon BS............................
