Hi everyone, who knows if any of the mobile service providers are having any valentine bonanza, so we can look forward to free gifts.

Yesterday I read a report about Nitel and the problems it was having both financially and also with connecting Nigerians to their fixed line network. Question is will fixed line ever be viable, especially li urban centres or is the company doomed to fail?

The NITEL issue (like NEPA's) is a complex one. Years of neglect have eaten deep into their infrastructure such that it is likely to take ages and loads of funds for them to be able to offer any service that measures up. I can imagine that the more they pump in funds now, the more they realise how bad things are.
There is yet hope for NITEL, but the managers literally have to become miracle workers for anything good to come out of that leviathan. Same goes for our national electricity corporation NEPA.

@brix25: I guess we are on extended holidays

I noticed that the SA thread is picking up fine. Jolly good show!
@all Nigerians: Anyone here aware of the e-NNOVATE 2005 expo that was supposed to hold yesterday & the day before? Been postponed to March 22nd & 23rd. All mobile enthusiasts should plan to be there.
