That would explain the controversial rumors about two different screen resolution for Z4. FullHD for Z3"Neo" and QHD for Z4. Maybe even 4Gb RAM along with a new sensor.

This article sounds promising (SD820) but also provides a few letdowns. No fingerprint scanner for Z4/5 and Z4/5 Compact? No OIS? Those things are really useful and they're getting more and more common among the competition. I hope they're going to change their minds. I'd love to see SD820 and 4GB of RAM in the Compact as well. OmniBalance needed some refresh for a while but changing the design language completely is quite risky. It better be good.

I have a theory.
Sony R&D have 3 or 4 design teams who work on a single handset each from conception to production. Each cycle is about 12-24 months. Of those teams I think only one of them has a truly exceptional designer and engineer.
That team's devices come out as exceptionally designed and over engineered works.
From this we can figure out their device cycle and which one is going to be the ground breaker.
I believe that team were behind Z Ultra and 2 years before that Arc S and 2 years before that X10. 2 years after Z Ultra would put it at Q3/Q4 this year, hence the new design for the next generation (not the leaked "Z4/Z3 NEO").
In my opinion they should give the designer of that team free reigns to design all Sony handsets from now on and make him/her a public figure (a la Sir Ives), even if it means stretching the product cycles a bit and reducing the lineup.

I hope they continue with the industrial design language. Slim and metal would be great. Designs like lg and samsung looks outdated to me (just my thought). 2 companies do it really well. Apple and Sony. They have that fashion and business appeals together. I hope Sony stays away from phones that look like eggs. They can upgrade the design with Aluminium chassis and some tweaks such as LED notification light embedded in the power button just like in old vaio Laptops.

Well it's half true, cause it won't be called Xperia Z5, It will be Z4/ Z4 Compact and Z4 Ultra, new designm fingerprint scanner etc. nothing new in this rumour at all ;p IFA or November showdown

about "possible delay of z5 devices to 2016 for s820" - no way. they will announce z4, z4c and z4u at ifa and launch all a short time after it for sure. this is no brainer imo, especially after the small update is more of a z3 variant. it would be suicidal trying to survive with this small update until a q2 launch 2016 just for s820. they may just get improved version of s810 in q3 prototypes if s820 won't be ready for this year.
