Auto Focus is crap for macro shots, here and at XDA, from phonearena:
Focusing is a bit of an issue, with shots out of focus roughly 10% of the time. Colour reproduction is on the whole okay, however inconsistent. While some shots, such as that of the post box produce a decent level of saturation, others look dull, and others washed out. Detail isn't too bad at all in well lit environments, however, any night shots don't even need to be zoomed into to notice the crackle. Exposure is also very inconsistent. The camera interface allows for touch to focus, which also controls what we presume to be spot metering, and there is an exposure bar which can be adjusted, however, in automatic, we found that the HTC Desire HD got it wrong more often than we would have hoped.

GSMArena
the Desire HD camera wouldn’t rank among the top 8MP Android shooters (or 8MP cameras in general).

And please, stop talking about xda like if we are retarded or so, it's not the first time i read you talking about "you are at xda, we don't and don't know anything at all", probably most of us have an account there

HTC's camera on their devices (be it Android or WP7) wasn't really that good. It's HTC's least priority when making a phone. This is coming from HTC Desire experience.

Xactly. HTC cameras are well known for their weakness.
As for imaging I don't take anything besides , some Nokias are nice too.

Everyone want to justify their choice of phone, i get it... but please stop the HTC bullshit in a SE arc thread!

And for the record, no other phone have anything close to the Arc´s camera interface, it's simply gorgeous!

Traditionally a CMOS sensor can produce more noise. But. They produce less noise at higher ISO.

Man your ignorance speaks of childhood narrow-mindedness. This thread is "The Official Arc Thread" not the The Arc ONLY thread. Anyone is able to speak their mind within the rules of the forum and within common decency to others.

That said lets go by past models, mistakes, and changes in direction that has done and compare those movements with vast fans posting in multiple threads on Esato. Take notice that has paid quite a good amount of attention to users on these boards - maybe only a small handful few but they do. Of all the fan sites - the basis of the core sales by target audience (bread & butter), Esato is the OLDEST and the most popular of them all.

NOW with all of this … discussions of competing products in "official" threads, both here & abroad, should be allowed to broaden minds, comparison shopping, even value conscious users looking to get the best for their hard-earned dollar. Being ignorant to what the competition offers has costs millions of dollars, sales, and almost their competitiveness: for proof one just needs to go back 4 qtrs to see the "RED" on the balance sheet of the partnership.
