Im a little bit concerned about lens quality, there is a lot of fuzzines/softness going on in a lot of samples ive seen. Only the center seem to be sharp. Dont think its because of the f2.0 aperture, my padfone infinity also have f2.0 but not the extreme soft edges. Not sure even an improved jpeg engine can sort that out... Hope to see some samples from real users soon.

Try hearing a sound at 80 or 86 and tell me if it seems 4 times louder!!!
I didn't say it was 4 times louder, I said 50% louder. And no where did I say that intensity is equivalent to loudness, which is why I said the following:
"e.g 90 decibels vs 80 decibels is 10 times more intense but is perceived as twice as loud to the human ear"
I'm a bit confused - not too sure if you are agreeing with me or not!
I'm confused too - we have already heard the Z1 speaker compared to the HTC 1 and although the guy thought the HTC was better (no surprise there) there was very little between them - again I think we are reading reviews that are extremely biased - I think a lot of care needs to be taken with everything we read here and on the web in general
never forget that the mobile market is tough and the opposition will do anything to taint opposing devices especially something as good as the Z1 - it is a market leader even if you were to believe all the suspect crap that is being posted online - so let me clarify that - even if you believed all the negativity it is still best in a class of it's own for now - Samsung LG HTC need to go up a gear to compete and in my humble opinion Z1 is a hard act to follow

Oops sorry
So far from what I've gathered, viewing angles are not an issue. Screen is as good as Z Ultra.
as much as I would like to believe what you posted - I could have said the same thing and yet I've never actually had the Z1 in my hand - you can't just make a statement like that it's not worth the keyboard it was written on

@miromiro the point is all phones have faults and negatives but there seems to be a many more people jumping into this thread seemingly _only_ to point them out and never comment on positive aspects, while the other threads don't seem to have anyone do that...
also, whether or not you try it in the store vs. online/preorder.. it doesn't make any real difference. The display model in the store isn't 100% indicative of what their stock is. It's likely the first one they got and it will stay there for the duration of the Z1's selling period. If you really want to be sure, just wait a few months.. and then get one. if it's not up to par, you return it. Simple.
@tyko - not sure what you mean but even with the same aperture they probably have different focal lengths (not sure what yours is, haven't looked it up)

Unfortunately, the display lottery crap, originated here is totally false.
The only thing I can say that the one who started this fabrication have hurt Esato's reputation.
Btw, I going to play with a demo Xperia Z1 soon. Any requests?
Good that you cleared that up. Hey everybody the display lottery talk is apparently crap, don't mind reviewers getting different results and user reporting different things. UnknownC151A says it's bullshit!

well, if we wanna play that game, we should also go to their threads and do whatever we can to discredit other devices. but are we really going to stoop to that level? in my observation, the worst a sony fan does is to annoyingly defend the brand in forums and comment sections. we usually don't go to forums to attack other brands. we're just not interested on what they have. we just hear about them in the news.
you can always try the device first before getting it☻ if they give you something that does not look like what they are displaying, you always have the option to refuse to accept it. what's important is you can evaluate the device with your own eyes before getting it, so you don't just get surprised by what you get inside the delivery box.
i'm not really sure about "returning" a device. in our place, we can't just return something if there are no significant faults. being not satisfied with the device is not reason enough to return something you purchase, at least in our place.

Yah i think it's important to view the phone with your own eyes.
I don't think I'll get that opportunity though since I'm not sure I want to wait until it is available in a store to look at. But hey, if it's completely shit when I get it, I'll be the first to say so. My heart will sink for sure. But, I have every confidence that I will be happy with my device.

hemmm... it's really interesting...
as we all know battery life could be solve with software updates.. that's not a problem.
I want to point out a few things.
first:
the X-reality engine actually uses the GPU, and not the CPU for it's analysis, so watching high quality movies will use both CPU and GPU power which will lead to greater battery consumption.
second:
video playback will improve with software updates.
third:
they haven't used the stamina mode...
p.s.
sony uses chrome, which i found heavy and hungry for resources..
as oppose samsung that uses their own browser...
maybe the chrome eats a lot of battery too..

I have to disagree with you that software updated will improve video playback time and browsing time.
My current phone ZL had several software updates since release but the screen on time has not changed.
I have never been able to get over 5 hours screen on time and stamina mode is always one.
The software updates greatly improved the standby time but the screen still drains the battery the most.
first can you tell me what is the difference between 5 - 6 or 7 hours, I have seen reviews of the S4 running 10hrs video and I've also seen 6hrs - it doesn't really matter, the bottom line is that there are certain things you do on a modern smartphone that will need it to be connected to a charger if you want it to survive - I remember my Z and how it would trash the battery in 3hrs if playing a game, that is the nature of the beast - here we have a Z1 which has unmatched hardware but as long as you know the limitations then you can prepare - another interesting fact is that out of the box any smartphone will have pretty poor battery performance until it has had a few charging cycles - I keep wondering how many of these battery reviews are legit - running a retail version that has been active for at least 2 weeks
Battery test on a device that has only been available in stores for 24hrs - ahem
