1.) with WLAN, can i play against other players off of the internet? (like a xbox live type thing, without talking to eachother) i have WLAN turned on and set up, but when i search for multiplayer, noone is ever there. is noone just on playing my game? (midnight club 3)

multiplayer is only done when you are within 30 metres with someone else who has the same game...where as other games that have infrastructure mode can play online against the world via a wifi router or access point.........

When I go to mulitplayer, it says it is initializing WLAN... not bluetooth... thats why i get confused. i figured if it says that, it would work. it doesnt?
(btw, i do have a wifi router)

Only tried lumines so far.
Why would they only work on 1.5, I don't get it

Especially as all previous things have been only for 1.0 or both

I'm not updating until its absolutely necessary & 1.5 can do everything.
I may even buy another PSP to have one updated & one not, lol

the size depends on what game it is. also I think you may be screwed eastcoast since MC3 updates the firmware to 1.52 if l remember correctly? have a look in sys info to be sure tho.

MC3 requires firmware updates to 1.5 to work. so your ok ecs
SCE of America is now playing its part in pre-emptive efforts to cut out unlicensed development. Three games are shipping for PSP in the next two weeks (and yes,that does feel really nice tosay), and all three feature an update function inside the game menu for bringing your system up to a newer version than, if you are an import buyer, you may already have installed.
Midnight Club 3, Dead To Rights: Reckoning, and Coded Arms all require atleast PSP v.1.5 to run. Allthree included the 1.5updater software on thedisc to quickly update yourPSP and get it ready to run the new games (they do not include the newer version of the software, which is currently up to 1.52.) Since PSPs sold in America and Canada are all already tuned to 1.5, there shouldn't be any impact, and aside from locking out unlicensed software that you're not supposed to be running anyway (depending on how much that affects you ...good boys and girls won't care, but we're not all goodboys and girls), you won't see much difference in the later versions of the OS.

@mik
I think this explains why coded arms doesnt work on v1.0
requires firmware update...
