I contacted Sony Ericsson UK this week asking about a release date for the W850. I want it because I really like the design, not too fussed about a great camera or anything, I just like the style of it.
Anyway, here's the (rubbish!) reply I got:

With regards to your enquiry, unfortunately we do not have a definite plan or release date for the Sony Ericsson W850i in the United Kingdom. We instead refer you to our website
www.sonyericsson.com for the latest information available to the general public. Alternatively you could contact your network or retailer for their release date.
Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again for further help and support.

Regarding the w830 i dont think the W series will ever get autofocus and the specs mentioned are what se would call a W980i or W990i
