This driver is based on the W900 driver
NO hissing during playback-not even little
NO hissing when connecting the headphones
Loudness improved
Awesome MEGABASS
Its just amazing.........it seriously conquers the iPod with this driver. Everybody's got to try this driver to believe it.
It needs some more work...will finish it when I have the time.
A BIG THANK YOU for mongoose3800 for endless hours of testing.......this could'nt have been done if it was'nt for mongoose3800 finding the PHF file.....
Enjoy all,

Before my phone had problems and had to be sent away for repairs I had been testing all driver changes as much as I could. I aactually lost a lot of sleep for some stupid reason!!!! Since getting my phone back I have been testing again as the repair agent was kind enough to reflash my phone back to the official R1BC f/w after repairing a h/w fault with the phoen.. From my testing I have found that all you need is the Phf_2_play.apf from the R1L drivers to overcome the static and excessive crackles. I have tried every solution offered in this thread and am still convinced that this one driver is all you need to get rid rid of tha horrid static/hissing sound. Note: This does come with compromises (as do the other solutions). They are 1) Megabass distortion - at full Vol you may get it with some song. But I don't use mega base. 2) if you pump your eq up to full on all settings some songs will distort - drop your settings back a little and all will be good. Oh, and for those doubting Toms that claim other ill effects - I have not experienced them. This would stand to reason as I believe the PHF in PHF_2_Play stands for "Personal Hands Free". Hence no effect on speaker.

hi mongoose, max_wedge and others have stated that the megabass distortion is fixed. Have you tried the new edited PHF_2play file? i can't test it of yet cause my handsfree is broken. Sounds like a perfect driver.

I don't think the Megabase is fixed. At lower volumes it's probably acceptable but once you go to full volume it rattles and distorts - worse than R1BC version. Megabase has never been perfect and really only causes problems when a song has a lot of "Doof-Doof" in it. I'm not sure what mix of drivers others have included but all I have is the original R1BC drivers with PHF_Play_2.APF from the R1L firmware. To be honest I couldn't tell the difference between this and the beta driver AKSD put together. If someone has a better mix of drivers I'm more than willing to try them.
