Bastards!

No wonder no-one wants to develop for UIQ3. SE are signing their own death warrant with this SS shit.

Lisa, I feel sorry for all the work you have put in just so they can move the goalposts.

I'm speechless at SE's attitude and incompetence!

Remember that it is not SE, its is Symbian. Look at the symbiansigned page, see the Nokia in the logo? . So no, SE is not signing its death warrant....

Also, having apps signed stops developers from making viruses that can start up and stops other things running around on your phone that make it insecure and can breech your privacy.

Quote:I feel sorry for all the work you have put in just so they can move the goalposts. Thanks! The sad thing is that such "changes" can happen in any new firmware and they do not inform developers in advance.
Quote:it is not SE, its is Symbian. This time it was indeed SE. While the tech background for security is provided by Symbian, the autostart API we talk about was invented by and specific to SE, and also the current change to its security binding was solely done by SE. Only the three UIQ3 phones are affected.
Quote:having apps signed stops developers from making viruses that can start up and stops other things running around on your phone that make it insecure and can breech your privacyThis is true in theory but might be considered a little bit paranoid. Power users are defended from non-existing viruses without asking them, for the price of disabling autostart. Apparently it is easier to set restrictions than to fix memory leaks.

Maybe SE are pissed that CPS have made such a good app (better than SE's own capabilities in fact) and have intentionally changed the API level to "force" developers (CPS) in this instance down the Symbian Signed route.

It seems ironic that CPS fully understand the memory architecture behind UIQ3 but SE can't even find a fix???????

Erhum, look at new p990 firmware thread. I posted an image with 15 apps running at the same time...

Also, there is practically no memory leakage, none that is clearly visible like before.

That's not the impression users are giving me on my-symbian!
There still appear to be leaks and not too much improvement on startup RAM either?

Quote:Maybe SE are pissed that CPS have made such a good appNo, that is surely not the case. In fact, we received support from SE. On the other hand, they follow their own directives which may result in victims like the autostart ability. The process brings uncertainty to us developers, and you decide what to you end-users.
Quote:There still appear to be leaks and not too much improvement on startup RAM either? So far it seems there are improvements to the memory management in the new firmware, at least on the surface, but the biggest problems seem to remain. We are still to do our thorough research on the subject.

Hi,

I have just had a look on the Cellphonesoft.com website and cannot find the update. Will the website still be updated later today, or where else can I download the new SwissManager from?

Thanks
