Statements like this are of no use whatever on a thread ( and indeed a site ) discussing technology ( and useless to people looking for feedback on the FW ).

So, yes, substantiate your claim with some facts, please.

* so far R6E runs fine on my unbranded P990.
The major bugs are fixed and no new ones introduced.
I get the impression that it's slightly faster and that memory management is a bit better, however uptime only 16 hours so time will tell !

With only SMPro open in the background, free RAM settles to 11.5MB ( having used LCG Jukebox, Projekt, Messaging, Mobipocket, Smartmovie, and several apps native to phone, and allowed SMP to close them. Prior on R6D I got about 10.3MB. SMPro set to level 2. I did not format c: or master reset either before or after the update. )

Hi there,

I upgraded to R6E28 today and unfortunately i discovered that fring will no more make VoiP calls !

I installed the fring application and the plugin, and after login, i tryed to call fring test, as i used to do on my last firmware R5, everything was ok. Now, can't hear anything ! no voice over IP !!!

Is it the same case for all people who upgraded or just me ?

My observations regarding R6E28:
- No noticeable speed improvement over R6D23. I did a format+master reset and played around with R6D23 before upgrading, this was already faster than before. Based on this, I saw no speed improvements with R6E28.
- The two most talked about bugs, space bar and CText, are fixed.
- RDS still doesn't work properly, in fact it got worse than before. Now even the station names do not display correctly at times.
- Edit before call in FC mode still doesn't work. There is just no way to edit a number in FC mode.
- Sound level over bluetooth stereo headphones still way to low, it's acceptable with the supplied cable headphones.
- In FO mode, when writing an SMS, you can use the jog dial to select the list of recent contacts used, but if you need to select a number from your contacts application you can't select that number with pressing jog dial.
- Backup/Restore of PCSuite works well for Unified Inbox, Notes, Settings, internal multimedia. All network settings, FM presets are restored properly.
- Most of my applications on memory stick were able to reinstall themselves correctly.

In short, I have not noticed any differences from R6D23 except for the two bugs mentioned which were fixed - probably copy/pasted from R5. So basically we still have the same R6 version as before.

Excluding the bugs I have mentioned, I had a pretty stable phone with R6D23 and R6E28 is just as stable, no problems so far - I am using SMP with level 3 reclaim though, I still think it's necessary.

- fring works well.
