hm, my phone won't tell me when i have a new sms when i have set the message alert to silent. Dunno if this is because the messaging program runs in the background though.

I can't wait to see what these guys start doing with the new g700 and 900. I was just about to sell my p1 cause there wasn't anything fun about it anymore, but now all of these new hacks and ports.... i've gotten a new love for this little phone.

no. do yours? i'm gonna turn on a sound now, to see if that works. i get a lot of texts so it's annoying to have a sound or check the inbox all the time.

Have you checked (under Settings -> Sounds & ... -> Messaging signals (?)) "Show notification" or something similar? It's the checkbox under the volume bar.
