Iphone is the most sought after and desirable phone on the market. If it wasn't, topics would not generate so much attention from more people who do not even own it.

i aint seen so much hot air since the demise of the Hindenburg, your right really, nearly all iphone users i know are really intelligent guys, which makes the whole business even more of a conundrum

It's not so much of a conundrum, just the age old question of quantity vs quality in feature terms. Other phones do some things the iPhone doesn't, but if you enjoy and use the things the iPhone does so much better than others (like web browsing, for example) then the trade-off is well worth it. Clearly if you rely on picture messaging or video-recording on a regular basis then the iPhone's never been for you yet, but that doesn't take away the good points for those of us who don't need or want to use those things on a regular basis.
I think people struggle with the iPhone because, to a large extent, it's still a unique proposition in the market. You can try to rationally appraise it against other phones that do x, y and z, but none of those phones can actually match the iPhone on its strengths. For instance, this morning I browsed the Appstore and ended up downloading the new Star Trek prequel comicbook and reading it in bed - could I have done that on an Arena, or an N96, or a Touch HD? Almost certainly not. Does it impress anyone else? No, probably not, you're never going to find an "Ability to download movie tie-in comicbooks" tickbox in mobile phone reviews, but for me - when you add that to all the other countless things which I personally can do with my iPhone - it all knocks those missing specs into a cocked hat.
Meanwhle, as you say, V3 looks set to bulk up that feature set considerably and suddenly make that quality and user experience available to a whole load of new people that couldn't do without feature x or y before... so it's interesting times. Given that every iPhone user already out there is also going to get many of those extras (leaving video-recording as probably the only real gap in our phone's arsenal) then suddenly a lot of the old arguments are just blowing away in the breeze, really.

No it's more down to folk like yourself who still view camera as the prime function of a phone. People who are jealous that a phone with apparantly less features still generates more interest than your previously super cool S60 phones. If anything it's a testiment to iphone that it generates so much attention from people who do not own it. By all means continue to post what you post as it only serves to keep the spotlight on it.
