A good review and a good score. Much better than engadget.

I did the same. Could not find any dummy phones anywhere. It's driving me mad.

I've still my heart set on the white version though so I'll just have to wait and see.

That review was fair enough and I do hope hd recording comes with a future update like the X10 but can't wait to try out the gamepad.

Can someone explain this video to me? Apparently it's a comparison of the brightness between the Xperia Play vs. Arc, except there seems to be an issue with the ambient light sensor or the Play because the screen seems to brighten up when he flashes the light into the sensor. I don't understand Spanish so I'd appreciate a translation. Thank you

I loved the review too, very well done. Honestly forgot this was a phone when I was watching the Bruce Lee game video. Camera shots seem comparable with the w995 (note the blue fringing in the cathedral shot) which isn't bad for a non-Cybershot class phone.

Very intrigued, unfortunately this not going to be sold where I live

I watched the video, he was trying to simulate sunlight or very bright surroundings when he shone a flashlight into the Play's (light) sensor. The brightening of the screen is the correct response.

Nice to see the Play is in stores. I'll wait and see what issues pop up before considering it though.

@NoroBilk: That's interesting, cause I've read at least 2 or 3 reviews/previews (Engadget, PhoneArena, GSMArena) that say it doesn't have an ambient light sensor. Or is what they are testing in the video different from that?

@Any one else: If anyone else has handled the phone, are the purported screen brightness issues (i.e. complaints of it being dim even on max brightness) really as bad as they make it sound? Could this be a manufacturing inconsistency between certain batches/color models? I'm almost thinking of sitting and waiting for the 2nd batch of production to see if it might improve if it is indeed an issue. Thoughts?

Not sure if this video has been posted. But some reviews say the Play's screen is poor. Here it looks fine to me
