Samsung Androids are probably the easiest phones to mod/debrand.
All you need is Odin on your PC and an unbranded Samsung ROM e.g. the UK one in your case, no need to root.
How about unlocking ? my S3 is locked to
3 UK.
@ Del - heh, the battery life is very good. As you can imagine, with a 2100mAh battery the phone lasts slightly longer than others. I got my phone on Wednesday and it came with about 41% charge already in the battery. I charged it straight away (whilst playing with it on and off, couldnt resist) and played with it for hours on Wednesday evening. I didnt charge it again until 11pm last night, so it was on and in use for around 30 hours without charge. When i put it on charge last night, the battery meter was showing about half empty. When i plugged in the power it said 47% charged.
So in 30 hours of moderate use (not heavy) it barely halved its battery capacity !
Im pretty sure it'll deplete much quicker when i use it as much as i do my old phone, i only havent because ive worked 90 hours over 7 days for the last three weeks so ive not had much personal time. Im also training a new manager at work so im not on my phone(s) anywhere near as much.
But yeah, the battery life is very good.
@ the others with negatives against the S3. Not a chance dudes sorry. I have to disagree with nearly everything you say. The build quality of the S3 is very good, if you didnt know the battery cover was removable you'd probably think it was a fully sealed unit. The phone imo also looks great when you actually own one. I think i now prefer it to the HTC One X look, its glossy hyperglaze nonesense does make it look more premium than the HTC phone. I understand how its disappointing in the looks when you first see it, but when you've had one for 24 hours you realise its an absolute stunner.
I also hate the nonesense about the HTC super LCD screen being better. Not a frickin' chance ! select a live wallpaper on the S3 such as the phase beam or deep sea, and stare into the absolute colour depths and contrast of the super amoled. Then stare at a One X screen. Dear me, its so dull compared to the S3.
I can see why Sammy called the phones Galaxy, because looking at this screen is like looking into the most stunning images from Nasa of nebula with brilliant colours.

Didn't really make me go wow like the Note did. And I still think the One X screen is sharper and has better colours

www.phonearena.com has done a photo shootout alongside Xperia S and a few others. They said overall iPhone 4s and Xperia S take the most impressive shots whilst GS3 takes best video.

Battery gets better if you do an initial power cycle, that is fully discharge the phone then charge it again and discharge it. Mine went from 18 hrs to 26+ hrs with mild use. I never turn off HSDPA (or sync, or gmail push, or gps) and I use Wifi at home.
One cool thing is the NFC. There is an app (nfc task launcher) that you set some instructions for the phone such as turn off wifi, set max brightness, etc, when touching a tag.
One example is, I have a nfc tag in my house door, I set it to toggle wifi, open music player (and start playing music) and fire up the Bus Times app to see when's the next coming to my bus stop.
I haven't play much with the S-Voice but I can reckon is better than Siri. Also as you said, build quality in pictures looks cheap but in real life is not as bad as the media used to say. Feels solid and doesn't squeak when applying pressure on it.
