hi! i just got my t68ie 2 weeks ago (and it's my very first mobile phone so im pretty much novice to cellphone world compared to u, guys hehehe).
anyway, im planning to have a vacation sa pinas nxt year and i want to know kung anong mas maganda, smart ba or globe? kasi 1 month lang ang stay ko so i thought it would be wiser to just have a prepaid sim for my phone. thanks po!

...another question po. i believe that some of the posters here post their messages through WAP. ok ba ang WAP connection dyan? kasali na ba yun sa price/load ng prepaid sim? yung prepaid sim is that the one ur referring to as "load"? sorry, i know that sounds dumb...i never had a cellphone nung nandyan pa ako. any help is much appreciated.

prepaid accounts here are pretty much the same and there are actually several not just Smart and Globe. My advice to you is ask the people who you will be in constant contact with here what their subscriptions are--Smart or Globe. if most of your friends and relatives are on Smart then take that if most are on Globe then that etc etc. The load people are talking about is probably more appropriately termed "credit"-- this is the amount of credit you load into your prepaid account-- thus pinoys say "load"-- pretty pinoy huh. when you buy a prepaid sim it usually comes preloaded with a specific amount of credit. once you consume that then you have to buy "call cards" which you will use to load additional credits to your account, same general idea as you do there. wap over GPRS is ok, but as of the moment only globe provides it for free, and only globe prepaid accounts could use gprs.
i know there specific nuances for each prepaid acct of the celco, i.e. even when you dont have credits you are able to make the called party's cell ring for 5 sec. etc etc ill leave that to the experts, and i really wouldnt know cause i dont use a prepaid acct. hehe

if you're a heavy txter, get smart...the more card you load, the more free txt you get (33 free txt for a 300peso smart call card)
if you're a heavy caller, get globe...its 3 pesos per min on globe to globe calls on OFF PEAK hours (10pm-8am & the whole Sunday)...globe only gives you a 50 free txt per month, regardless of how many & any amount of call card you load.

Tyron, yes, the service is being offered by Smart and TalkNText (they're owned by the same company)....Load a text only top up card worth Php 100 and consume it within a month... problem is your number would not be able to make calls or receive calls unless you load a regular top up card worth Php 300.
Taking advantage of this service would make your phone a glorified
2-way pager.
