Hi,

I just installed the newst G firmware over my standard vodafone build in. First impressions are that it seems faster but doesn't seem as nice as it did before. Maybe it's just a theme thing but a lot of it looked nicer under the voda branded firmware.

My biggest gripe though, and there may be a solution to this, is on the main screen the right hand button takes me to the menu. On the vodafone firmware it took you into a neat little tabbed menu, ok so the VF live menu was pointless but it had an event tab, a current running apps tab and most importantly a shortcuts tab which I used regularly.
I know this little page still exists because if I get a text message I can shift sideways and see the shortcuts but I have NO idea at all how to get into this menu otherwise, either through the menus or any shortcut buttons.

Anyone got any ideas? As this will drive me crazy.

@sielski666
The firmware hasn't come out for any UK phone - branded or generic - yet. I suspect the UK companies are more cautious than other countries as there is a very large phone base here and I suspect profits are lower than in many other countries due to the huge competition in the UK phone market.

i dont see the point in stressing about not having the latest firmware, it doesnt make your phone do anything spectactularly different than before. it'll come when it comes. its not even been released a week yet!

Could anybody with experience of past O2-branded SE handsets give us any idea of how quickly O2 roll out UK firmware updates after other regions start to receive them? Will they almost certainly release the update and, if so, do we normally have to wait days, weeks, months..? I am very happy with my K800 as it stands but am particularly keen to have the update for the bug fix for the correct reading of artist/album tags on WMA files.

firmware is important to me, yes i want my phone to be as stable as possible and have the full funtionality that it was designed for but being impatient wont get you anywhere.

but no, i purposefully debranded on wotan to the exactly same first release firmware my phone had on so that i could use seus to get the generic firmwares when they are available rather than wait longer for the operator specific firmwares.

you cant be that desperate if you dont want to pay 7euros to wotan for the latest firmwares.
