A quick reply before work!
The Bold does have a lanyard attachment but if you got one of those docks or used the supplied pouch or a silicone skin you would have to remove said lanyard every five mins!
The deskstand will charge the Bold via two little contacts at the bottom of the Bold, but for data transfer you will still need to plug the lead in!

Hi ofiaich,
The charger pod is excellent and works as Nanu has described it can also put your Bold into bedside mode which dims it and just show the time. Actually VodaFone weren't telling fibs there are two versions a single user version and a Enterprise version and that really is what caused you all the problems. I do hope you have now demanded (in a nice way of course) some sort of compensation for all the hassle and wasted time they caused you.
I have a Bold Lanyard and i disagree with Nanu on one thing i am still able to use the charging Pod without needing to take the lanyard attachment off. I also have and use a PDAir Flip case as this fits on my already purchased car mount kit. The PDAir case is made from very good quality leather and can be found quite easily on E-Bay from trusted sellers in the UK at around £10. The only other things i use with my Bold are a Jawbone Bluetooth headset and my Shure EC2g's. Oh and a really old but mint Motorola V3 in car charger that has a mini usb plug and works perfectly with the Bold.

Hi Nanu and Dogmann
thanks for your replies!
I will call Vodafone and ask them about compensation. See what they say!
I took this photo this morning and think I can see the button, on the side, matches one on the other side for charging.
I can also see the hole to thread the lanyard through, and a spanner shaped part of the housing when it probably links.
but if you got one of those docks or used the supplied pouch or a silicone skin you would have to remove said lanyard every five mins!
Why would you have to remove the lanyard to use the dock ? I can understand about the pouch or a skin!
I hope I have a new pair of ear phones coming from Japan as a Christmas present. My friend asked me, so I gave her a choice of a few ear phones !
I have an in-car charger for my TyTn II, maybe that will be OK and will fit.
Marc and Nanu! Do you use a screen protector?
My next job is to list what would be good apps to use! I use a great free JapaneseEnglish dictionary on my Touch HD. Would love to gave such a dictionary on the bold.

Hi ofiaich,
Actually because it's so good and not noticeable i forgot all about it i do have a Martin Fields Screen Protector on as always put screen protectors on even non Touchscreen phones. Yes that is were the Lanyard goes and further back in the Thread it was discussed with pictures.
@BavLondon2
Well i have all my Music encoded at 256kbps AAC and use a set of Shure EC2g ear phones it is so good that i sold a 5.5 Generation iPod and now use my Bold instead. It produces a nice rich and full sound stage and maximum volume is to loud and not needed IMO. Even occasional listening via the stereo speakers is surprisingly good as it is for watching Videos to.

Hi Marc,
found the picture! I have two great lanyard to choose from, to use with my Bold!
I also found a link
here that shows how to change the bezel. Not sure that I have the skill even if I have the patience. I don't have such a steady hand!
An issue I had, before my Bold stopped working, was the memory card. I formatted with the Bold and it could be seen in the memory settings.
Later, it could not and I could see the message that the card has errors and I need to run an error checker from my pc.
The only odd thing on the card would have been some music folders, music and pictures with Japanese file names. I don't think that should be a problem though..
I do have another card so I will try that one when I get the Bold again on Monday.

Hi ofiaich,
Personally i would just format the card in the Bold and maybe wait until you have installed the Japanese and Chinese support before putting the card in just in case that is what the problem is as it could be.
A lot of the time many little problems with the Bold can be solved just by pulling the battery out for 15-30 seconds and then putting it back in as it clears the system.

Hi Marc,
yes, I will try that. I might well just transfer English music to begin with, just one album and then add later.
I guess no problem to format the card using the Bold so that the BB directories are created, then to take the card out and use a card reader!
I found the
link for the bezel change.. looks a bit too scary for me to do! I did change a battery in a Tungsten T3 once
