Its a year away. If
does like what they did with the P990i then they will announce an amazing phone now and release it in a years time by which time everyone else has supassed them.

Thats true!
I wouldn't be surprised if they were already working on the replacement for Sofia's successor. I read somewhere once that high-end handsets can take longer than 2 years to develop.

typically it takes about 18 months for a phone to move from the design board to shelves
some phones took less time, of course, the lower end ones, and some like Z610 which was just taken off-stream halfway another project (the "another project" is still going on, obviously it's something that we'll see this year, duh)
