That wont make a difference as far as batt is concerned since there wont be a huge difference of current drawn.

Batteries need not be of the same type. They will not affect the phone but diff types last for different periods and need diff periods of charging.

Thats why i said they need to of same type,since each type needs different charging cycles and the phone will be designed with a particular kind of batt in mind.

no the phone is designed to give a certain output and that is fixed. It doesnt matter which battery type you put in. You have to control the charging. Li-poly batteries dont need to be fully discharged before charging again whereas i believe li-ion do, so you have to ensure that you discharge the li-ion battery fully b4 re-charging. The user has to take care of that.
