never gonna happen ... just not possible to merge an rx100 into a phone. the space required for the large sensor and quality lenses just aren't possible on a smartphone that's not gonna look like a 1 inch thick brick.

they are doing great innovating new sensors to improve what a smartphone can do. but we aren't gonna have a rx100 in a smartphone anytime in the next 10 years.

Panasonic CM1 has size of XZ1c. Just thicker.

- It has 28mm lens. If Sony uses something like 24mm, it is easier to make thinner elements. Sony today has many of the best lenses out there, knowledge there is enough. Same applies to Zeiss.

- Phone is wider and taller than camera. Get rid of the other two cameras, they save some space.

- sony knows xperia can regain some marketshare. Cameras cannot. Soon only APSC, FF and MF will last. Better kill rx100 and rx0 and let xperia take over. 1ii seems to be way more popular than 1, despite being $250/€250 more. It is their chance.

Even Lg that is also losing money for years is taking risk with Wing. They may bring screen that stretches soon.

Who would not like to buy something like this?

*** the teaser posted yesterday, in the end shows a draw too. Xperia besides an Alpha cam. Like the one they have on website with 1ii and A9.

*** what if the thickness means single camera periscope with true zoom that would work from 16 - 200mm? Like same 1/1.7" camera. Asus has done it before and Oppo is working on it too ....

Nah, I'd rather have sensors with 'small' sizes in their phones today, compared to super large single sensor for one phone. Sony should play more with computational photography, like google, etc.

It's because people want versatility.

Then, the camera bump size will be very bad. It's also risky for the phone's durability.

Sony does not like fake looking photo.
Photos from 1ii do remind of Alpha.
Exposure, colours etc ...

Google, Apple and Samsung give instagram photos.
With ability to only shoot zero motion.

Without HDR turned ON all the time, they would have tons of exposure issues.

Xperia 5 II goes on sale for $949

That’s even lower than what people expected, including myself! Lol

@hawk12:

Yet, sony phones still has a lower dynamic range compared to the competition. If you want natural, it’s either google or sony actually.

You cannot compare one photo HDR against photo non-HDR.
Other phones use HDR all the time.
Auto HDR and DRO give completely different results.
Auto HDR is stacking, DRO lifts shadows only.

Turn off the auto HDR of your s20 ultra and see how it looks.
By the way, the bad habit of turning gray clouds into blueish by samsung flagships is because of excess the HDR.

Phone of the teaser was not 5ii.
Where is it?
Where is "audio pro" app?

Hold on! They had a full on product presentation and yet they missed out to mention the purpose of additional hardware button? Do they really expect people to come to conclusion that's a customizable button?

Dom from Xperia Tips said button summons Google.

I just saw a hands-on.
Guy shows Cinema Pro with 120fps, but there is no 25 or 60.
Just 24 and 120 for 24mm ......

Surprise is that Sony does not know when Xperia Pro will be out.
