@dheeraj
dude do u get 15KBps in windows too or just linux?....i just cant get free gprs to work on ubuntu but MO is workin fine......
speeds have slightly increased from 8KBps to 10KBps on linux......
and about the ftdi cable...... is just useful for increasing the port speed if u have the correct drivers???..... am i right?? or does the chip increase the transfer rate between the modem and isp.....????
coz i am connected at 921.6kbps(port speed) through bluetooth, and still only able to get max of 10KBps... download speed...

well u can not expect speed more than 10kbps via bluetooth
if u want more speed than u have to go 4 ftdi chip set (usb) data cable.
i get good speed on both winxp and linux but good surfing speed on linux.
and that coz i have ftdi driver of winxp.
and i think increase in baudrate between pc and mob do increase net speed as when i was using rconnect @ baudrate of 115,200 (115KBPS) I USE TO GET DOWNLOAD SPEED OF 6-9kbps and when i came to kno about ftdi driver i installed it on my pc and changed the baudrate to 230,400 (230kbps) i was
able to get download speed between 17KBPS-25KBPS.
and on LG b2050 i am able to get 5-6KBps download speed when i was using local cable and when i did little bit modication on my existing lgrd2030 ftdi data cable i was able to get 230kbps speed between mob and pc and 15-17kBps download speed and some time it even reach to 30KBps but only for few second.
so if u manage to get the ftdi driver for ftdi datacable than only u will be able to achive such a fast download speed else u have to use linux coz on linux u don't need such driver but still u will be able to get 230kBps speed

btw driver which i have posted here
http://www.desi-tek.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3 should work with all
ftdi chip data cable.
ito use ftdi datacable u need two driver
1 ftdi driver
2 usb 2 serial converter driver.
usb 2 serial converter comes with all the data cable and u can download
ftdi driver from the link i have posted above.
after downloading it u need to do little modification in FTDIPORT.INF file
which i have already posted on that thread.
