Perhaps Z4 is only for japan because in japan every 6 months every japanese smartphone company will release a new flagship. Z5 for the rest of the world

If this thing isn't exclusive to Japan, then we have finally 32 GB ROM and a CPU, which isn't just a slightly tweaked 800 processor again. The problem is the 810 has got a bad reputation and that's not without a good reason. This and the design evolution, which is also comparable with the CPUs of the Z2 and the Z3 in terms of progress, leads to the mixed reception. The six-month product cycle, respectively the naming scheme plays its part too.

Agree, but that still was a rumour after all, specially with Sony habit of having different naming in different markets.. thought I don't remember ever having a completely new generation in a market (Z4 Japan) while having just a newer version in other markets (Z3 Neo in other markets)
But, we know that naming is the very last step in a product life, and might change any time before the launch...

Seems only to make sense, if the Z4 isn't available worldwide. At the same time, how does it make sense to call this Z4, if it's only for Japan? As Z1 Compact -> Z3 Compact or Z2 Tablet -> Z4 Tablet isn't enough of skipping already, are they now even doing it with the main flagship? The naming scheme would become an even bigger mess, if that's even possible at his point.

With regards to bezels, shave 5mm from the total height of the device (146mm) and it'll satisfy the needs of most users here.
For comparison, S6 is 143mm and recently announced Huawei P8 is 144mm.

The rumors were true aside of minor negligible inaccuracies (z4 and not z3 neo).
now we can expect the big update flags for 100% for ifa announcement and q4 launch. sony just confirmed it.
Regarding Z4, what catch my eyes is that overheating restriction in 4k recording is a thing of the past. watch this 10 min 4k recording:

Do you follow this rumors thread? a source informed a few months ago that sony decided to change strategy to one flag per year after they already worked on z4 and they wanted to please the japanese carriers who always ask for a new flag every half a year. today sony just confirmed it with this z4 announcement. the q4 main flag should be the first one year flag. one source says the naming will change completely meaning no "z" and no "5".
