shortcuts can be accessed via d-pad and 2 buttons up top near speaker.
i highly doubt you would have to have the phone open to take pics. it just wouldnt be user friendly.

Indeed, it might please Nightblade to know that on a lot of Samsungs, you do have to do just that
Looking promising the C905, hopefully under 300 quid though

That's because the camera is usually positioned on the inside of the slide on Samsungs, so that the slider acts as a lens cover, meaning you have to open it to be able to use it. Its plain obvious that you don't need to with the C905.

Exactly, and c905's camera is not hidden inside the slide.
