I have to say Im not all that satisfied with the videorecording.

For the first part, the audio is still only very low quality amr 12kbit/s 8000hz, which is unbearable to listen to. It should have been aac audio.

Secondly the picture quality of the videorecording isnt really that amazing either. Even though its higher resolution and higher framerate (which is naturally good) than the K750, the bitrate is to low and comparably actually lower pr.bits than on the K750 which gives more compression artifacts and macroblocs than it does on the K750.

Since the total number of bits (320x240=76800) is 3 times as high as the total number of bits (176x144=25344) on the K750, and especially since framerate (30fps) is also 3 times as high, the needed bitrate should be atleast 3 times as high as on K750 to give the same picturequality pr. bits.
K750 records at up to 200kbit/s, to perform the same W900 should record in up to 600kbit/s but only records in up to 400kbit/s

Therefore bit by bit it records in lower quality than K750. Sure Its a bit sharper because of the higher resolution but still slightly dissapointing to me. The audioquality alone really puts me off.

I hate to say this, but just for comparison, the Samsungs E720/730/D600 etc. records at 352x288 at up to 650 kbit/s video (20fps), and they record in AAC audio at 64kb/s 11025 hz which gives acceptable audioquality bearable to listen to.

At this point, I dont think the W900 really does it for me.
Sure it has a larger screen, and more memory, but I allready have 40mb+512mb in my k750, its still the same platform and UI, still the same camera as my K750, I dont need 3g, videorecording isnt improved in a for me acceptable way and I've never really been that funned of the swiwel design, to clumsy to use with one hand.
I suspect I might just pass on this one, and wait for the next version.

so why can't the k750 record videos as good as the Samsung E720? Both have cameras which are 2 mp's. Is it the software that lacking or the hardware.

it's a encoding matter like when you capture under windows in avi mpeg or wmv format,se has it own encoding level that should fit the video processor

@senninha, the whole point for me is an ACTIVE lense, that means when you open the lense it turns the camera on.

An actual lense cover also protects the glass cover from getting scratched, that is the point of a lense cover. If the lense cover is transparent but unremovable it's a bit pointless.

Not sure I personally need a lens cover. I love what the W900i offers. I've had 3 camera phones in the past, one currently and I have yet to scratch the lens. I've NEVER bought a case for ANY phone and I've dropped all of them; seeing damage on the shell of the phone, even the screen, but never the lens of the VGA cams (laugh it up fuzzballs. Sure I havent graduated to MPixel Cam just yet soon). I always keep my phones in my jeans/pants front pocket. screen out. And no I'm not even as paranoid-careful as some are.

Although I cant wait to see the response time Max is enjoying with the K750i.

Max I'd hate to see how careful you'd be with an iPod Nano if your that worried about scratches. The lack of protection on the W900 should be solved by a case. However, I'd like to see a 2 piece case (top & bottom parts of the unit) that doesnt interrupt the swivel action & also a quick slick velco (the sharper edge not on the flip) flap for the lens. Hmm carefully thought out.

I'm really looking forward on the launch of W900i. Like W800i. I got it the first day it was launched. But then K750i served as a test bed for the software. I'm just afraid that the first version will give lots of problem!

Regarding dust that gathers on the lens, which I see as the major problem, this might not be a problem on the W900 due to the fact that the outer structure of the lens is flat. This way dust won't gather there in the same way as it did for the T610, K700, P900, P910 etc...

Prom1, it's not the protection that concerns me. I've never scratched my cams lenses either. I'm not anal, but I'm not careless either.

These are the 2 reasons I prefer an active lense cover, in order of importance to me:

1. The fact I can turn the camera on without unlocking the phone. An active lense means the camera can be activated without unlocking the phone. This for me is an absolute bonus, as it makes taking a photo as seemless as a normal digicam. No stuffing about with unlocking and then activating the camera. Because I use the camera a lot, this isn't as lazy as it sounds (I've taken over 2000 pics in two months or so).

2. The lense cover prevents dirt getting on the glass cover. This used to happen to me with the K700, it got very dirty very quickly (I never scratched it, because I was careful when I cleaned it). I often took great photos and then realised they were hazy due to a dirty lense.

You mention using a case. Actually I've always use a leather case to protect the phones exterior and to prevent dirt, skin etc getting into the internals. I also prefer to wear the phone on my belt, so a case is a must for me. However I always end up cutting out the plastic window that covers the lense, because it actually isn't as transparent as it looks. Such plastic covering the screen doesn't affect viewing, but covering the camera lense does affect image quality. Also it's another bit of transparent stuff to keep clean. Two layers of transparency for the light to reach the lense? The photographer in me doesn't particularly like that idea

As far as opening the lense cover with the case on? Well I chose a case that has a large window, so I can actually open and close the lense cover without taking the case off.

So mostly my desire for a lense cover is to provide quick access to the camera (active) and to keep the lense glass cover clean.

Protection of the lense is a bonus, but I've never scratched my camera lenses, EVER. I may be casual with my shit, but I'm not careless. I like my stuff to work as intended or better

With the phone in it's case (I also reversed the orientation of the clip, so that when I look down at my phone when it's on the belt I can see the time easier. The phone is actualy upside down on the belt). Note it's possible to slide the lense cover open and closed with your finger-nail:
