BRAZIL 2 - 0 AUSTRALIA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853210.stm

"While not altogether convincing, a second victory for Brazil ensures their progress to the second round. An impressive Australia will rue the missed chances but, provided Japan fail to beat Brazil, a draw against Croatia in their final match will take them through."

I'm actually ashamed to say it, but I put £25 on France to win. My betting is going great though, I've only lost £75 so far...*%**%$£"** I suppose I deserve it for betting on France.

FRANCE 1 - 1 SOUTH KOREA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853220.stm

"Both sides went close to sealing victory in the dying minutes but in the end they had to be content with a share of the spoils. The Koreans will surely be the happier of the two as the French still hunt their first FIFA World Cup win since the Final of France 98. As Group G stands now, Korea Republic lead the pack with four points with France second with two points. Switzerland and Togo have one and no points respectively ahead of their second game."

CZECH REPUBLIC 0 - 2 GHANA

"Ghana's historic win gives them genuine hope of qualifying for the second round. In their final group game they will play the USA, while the Czechs – disappointing today without strikers Jan Koller and Milan Baros – will hope for better in their showdown with Italy in Hamburg."

I really think that Ghana can do it and get to the next round, also I think that Trinidad & Tobago will be able to do it as well. Ghana have got the USA next which shouldn't be too hard, and Czech Republic have got Italy and with the way they played today against Ghana Czech Republic will surely loose. T & T require England to beat Sweden which I'm sure we will and a win against Paraguay. Ghana should have thrashed Czech Republic tonight, but it seems their lack of experience meant that they were unable to really finish 'just-the-keeper-to-beat' chances, also they were getting a bit carried away and seem to have forgotten the offside rules lol...

Yip Ghana did find themselves offside a couple of times, but towards the end the Czecks were playing very far foward and the Ghanains were getting caught close to the halfway line.

But they played very well they found all the gaps and really gave it to the Czecks, and they ranked 2nd in the world!!

I hope to see them go further, they have the potential and just need to capitalise on every chance they get, but their defnce and mid field play is very strong!!

Yeah for Afrikan Football!!

as for the other games...
To bad to sad for the french, whats with the Zidane and Henry story??
One of our presenters mentioned a rift between them and Zidanes lack of passing to Henry, then during the game it became more evident that their was no passing!!! ?? politics?

Italy and Brazil not shining yet, but they still up there...

Australia had their chances, although we lack some striking capabilities. We need some extra oomph! If only Harry Kewell was fully fit...
We put up a good fight, i thought we were going to lose like 6 nil, lol

My mates got money on Spain this year, what do you think? They had an excellent first game, they have a fabulous team, but they never do anything at competition level - maybe this year they will do something?

^ I dunno... Spain are a good side don't get me wrong, but they have always lacked something within their squad right throughout history, i mean they've never really been a great threat to take the title if you know what I mean. But of course we may see a few more surprises as we already have seen so far so who knows.

Oh and I don't think we can really refer to FIFA's ranking system, as you probably know its just a general look on how well teams are doing with mostly their friendlies. But of course teams like the USA will be up there due to the fact that they only most of the time have to play small pacific teams etc. So personally I take no notice of FIFA's ranking, I mean you wouldn't really bet on one of those teams to make the later stages of the knock out rounds in the World Cup would you.

Oh yeah and GO SOUTH KOREA!

Ok guys, I'm back from Nurenberg. What can I say? Well to start, I made it to the stadium with only minutes to spare. Started off in Heathrow, just made my flight, (which was delayed anyway). There were uite a few England fans in my situation on the plane with us. Some were going to drive and some were going to join us on the train. We got there on time and ran to the train station. We then just made it on the train with 5 minutes to spare. Then after a noisy and joyous 2 hours on the train (England fans and Trinidad supporting germans all singing together) we got to Nurenberg. Then we had to figure out where to get the train to the stadium from. We just followed the majority of England fans and eventually found the right track. 10 years later we made it to the stadium. We ran from the train and encountered the security check. Although they threw away our bottles of water, they let us through pretty quickly and with minimum fuss. We then ran on to the stadium and 5 breathless minutes later we arrived at the stadium just as the Trinidad national anthem began. We waited for both national anthems to finish then went to find our seats. The stadium was totally sold out. I would say it was 70% England fans and 30% Trinidad and Tobago fans.
Although I have been to a few Arsenal home games this was completely different. I would compare it to the African Nations in Tunis that I went to 2 years ago. The atmosphere was amazing. It was so friendly and all the england fans were as one, it didn't matter where you were from what colour skin or what religion you were, we were as one, cheering on our country.
Although the game was frustrating, eventually Crouch headed one home and when that happened the whole stadium errupted in a movement of red and white. Then when Gerrard scored his beauty, even more followed, I ended up hugging the guy next to me, even though I didn't know who the hell he was.
After the game we all slowly left and made our way to the train station. There was no trouble what so ever. Everyone was just there to enjoy a good game of football.
Everywhere we went we could hear people singing/whistling the great escape. Even when we were at the hotel which was fairly remote, we could hear people walking past our room whistling the great escape.
We didn't get to see much of Nurenberg because of the time constraints, but all in all it was very nice. The hotel was great out in the middle of no where. The transport really put UK transport to shame.
We got to spend a little time in Frankfurt which nice. Very good atmpsophere. There were food stalls all around the main shopping areas near the station, each country was representing itself with some home made food.
We found a little park where some people had set up a huge screen to watch the games. We had a few hours left so we got some food & drinks and sat down to watch the Argentina vs Serbia & Montenegro game. After the Argies thrashed Serbia, we headed on to the airport to catch the flight home.

To sum up, everywhere we went, people were very friendly, most of them spoke english. The food was very nice, very cheap and again I have to mention the efficency of German public transport.

Here are some of the photos (I appologise in advance as I was quite far back and also it's difficult celebrate and take a good photo at the same time.
