Have a look at this!!!

Might make you think twice about the TyTn.

I might be mis-reading it so any comment or feedback is much appreciated. Also is there any way of running a comparable benchmark test for the P990i against the TyTn?

Thanks

Explains why the Universal is so poor! But tests are one thing and use in real-life in another. Best to get all perspectives.

Can somebody just confirm for me as I am little confused.

In the UK the HTC TyTN, Vodafone v1605, and Orange SPV M3100, are all the very same phone but just branded differently?

If this is correct, if say I had a Vodafone v1605 where would I look for updates, Vodafone or HTC.com? Does Qtek have anything to do with it, as I keep seing Qtek mentioned, and on the Vodafone UK website a number of Qtek phones are identical.

Finally I know it has been mentioned that the Orange SPV M3100 is branded, is the Vodafone v1605 branded also?

Thanks for any advice!!

yes they are all the same phone and for updates you will have to go to the specific models company web site, i.e. vodafone for vodafnoe, orange for orange, htc for htc etc

Thank you for clearing that up.

As I have never seen anything on the Vodafone website about upgrading software for a phone, is it safe to assume that if I buy a v1605 I will be waiting forever for an upgrade?

Is it not possible to remove the Vodafone branding and make a regular TyTN and update it via their website?

Thanks again!

I have posted a couple of P990i / TyTN pictures in the main P990i thread for those interested.
