yes, the texts are interchangeable with MMS and data and to use 1000 texts wholly as data would be a little over 50mb of data

Sorry to hijack the Vodafone thread, but O2 are listing the P990 as an 'Oct '06' release date on their website. As I am expecting to upgrade with them, can anyone confirm this is the case for O2?

They are very cagey and actually ignorant about it. I am with O2, currently porting to Voda, because from a service point of view O2 are substandard. If they're saying Oct, it'll probably be Nov, maybe Dec knowing those fools.

wow, well stuff £2.35 a mb!

I'm off to get 1000 texts - it'll be so much cheaper because as a rough estimate i will use 25mb a month

Thanks masseur!

so if i ask vodafone to put me on the 1000 texts a month plan, I effectively get 50mb of data??

I asked the upgrade ppl this when i was getting mine.
The 1000 texts are treated as SMS only.
Whereas before when you bought a bundle it included gprs, sms, mms and video messages, the new tarrifs are not like this because people didn't take much advantage of the flexibility (or imo they took alot of advantage of it).
So unless you're carrying over a £120 data bundle (i think it's like £30 a month) from a previous contract; when it says X amount of texts that's what it means.

ok then that is new since I moved from Vodafone last month because my text bundle definitly counted as data

unfortunately it still wasn't enough data so I moved to t-mobile who give you 2gb for £7.50 on any calling plan

Slightly off topic but can people log on to the VF site to check their bills? I want to see if any of my data usage has been charged.

I had to use all 3 of my extras to bring me up to the 1000 texts on a £30 18 month tariff.

I have and it confirmed with numerous calls to CS that this can be used for data (not seen any bill info yet as I've only had it 1 day).

I got them to write & sign "includes data" on my contract.
