Hi Everyone.

(I meant to post this here not in the main forum - so appologies for the double post)...

Just thaught I'd drop a line to tell you I got my carphone warehouse supposedly "unbranded" firmware updated to the latest firmware today by the seunlock-uk guys..

I can heavily recommend these people - I met their technical manager in person in Edinburgh today and they updated my phone whilst I waited in around half an hour.

The phone was returned to me updated and tested with detailed instructions on putting back texting/internet setttings etc.

In short : VERY trustworthy people with GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and SUPPORT! I heavily recommend their services.. and will be to my friends/colleagues etc..

This new firmware is much better - it doesn't reboot when I look at video properties...

I can now enable the speakerphone BEFORE a call is made!!!

I can now fast forward/jump into the middle or any part of a music video - and it now works instead of locking up..

etc. etc.

So I heavily recommend everyone updates their firmware if their current version is causing them problems..

The good thing about using their service is that my CDA code has now changed to a much more common one that might get more updates from SEUS!

Regards

Steven McDonald.

Not me... I'm still stuck in the damn loop.

Way to go SE!

I still think that it probably has something to do with the software installed on the phone. What we need is someone to confirm this (one way or the other) by doing a hard reset as well as a format of their internal media memory. I'd give it a go myself, but I don't know enough information about the new firmware updates to justify doing it (i.e. I'm not sure if having the updated firmware is worth the trouble of completely resetting my phone).

Why not back up the phone through SEUS and that way any pertinant info will be saved and then when you update the FW or suchlike you will be able to put all yuo settings etc. back on the phone no problem at all.

seunlock-uk,

Yes, I suppose that I could give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

My only reservation is that I don't really know how good/thorough the backup is (i.e. will I really get back ALL of my data, programs, etc.).

slewis41,

Nope, SEUS still puts me into the never ending loop every time I try the update process.

My W950i is an unbranded version which I believe is running the generic world 2 firmware (R1B01).

Firstly you can check the firmware and CDA for sure by going to

more -> status ->

Then you will know for sure what you have.

As for SEUS backup, it is very thorough it will backup anything you want,

Settings,
Unified Inbox (Your Messages/Emails)
Gallery (Media (Pics/Music/Video)
Applications installed on Media Memory
Applications Installed on Phone Memory
etc.

See Below....

So any updates on the w950i update procedure?

I have used to separate pcs to try and update and i get the same white screen - initial screen loop. And i've used one of the pcs to update my k800i, P990i, and an M600i. This sucks!

the same computer I used to updated 2 W810i, doesnt work for my w950. Keep getting looped
I did a fullbackup and hard reset, still in the loop.
restore the backup and some of the setting is not working like before but I dont really care, the w950 is just my spare phone anyway. It just pissed me off that I could run the update before and no new firmware message, then after the new firmware released, I got looped.
