Hi all,

I actually think this is a great device from SE it looks good ticks all the right boxes especially with HSDPA as if you are going to be uploading or Blogging pictures that extra speed is sure going to come in handy. Great job SE just wish it was launching a bit quicker patience never was my strong suit.

@Mweb6161

Of course we do i sold my soul to the devil for free Nokia's for life!!

Also the competition for this device is not the N95 which will be at least 6 or 7 months old by it's release and is not a Camera only either. The competition for this device is going to the Nokia N82 also with 5 mega pixels and Xenon flash and until they both launch no one can know for sure which will be best.

Marc

Surely it is quite far to move your thumb from the bottom of the ring when scrolling down a list...to then pressing select. Could this not get annoying?

As mentioned in my translation above, the device is a bit more convenient to use as a camera than as a phone. A deliberate design decission. I can live with that and the thicknes as long as the camera deliveres excelent pictures (we have not seen anyone yet).

Not released until Q4 is it? Thats October at the earliest. 5MP will be old by then.

Oh really, I don't hear EVERY other manufacturer announcing 5MP by that timeline. HTC, Motorola, Sagem, LG / Samsung - American & European divisions haven't (although Samsung DOES have a 5MP with Optical Zoom in Asia). So no it will NOT be old; specially with the quality it'll provide.

I just HOPE Sony & SE heavilly invest and license the patent for Electro-Magnetic Liquid Optical lenses: unless it demands too much power! We should se these phones by 2nd qtr 2008.

Just remember that any further jumps in MP in a camera phone by SE will significantly cut into their CyberShot Camera division, especially with Optical Zoom into the picture. Personally I think they should combine the two into SE products starting in November 2007 and keep the Sony CyberShot lineup to High-End HD Cams/Camcorders where the pricing for the higher MegaPixels are warranted by the applications sought after for that high price. Furthermore it'll yeild higher margins for profits

Not really - bit disappointed, doesn't offer much more than my K800. Was hoping that after having my K800 for nearly a year something a bit more would be on offer when my contract can be upgraded.

What are you talking about? The K700 offered quality VGA, was NOT the first VGA but around the last. 40MB memory. Other that styling not much improvement from the T630 - OS changed of course. K750 offered expandable memory, flash was NOT part of the Platform (OSE) before hacks, and 2MP camera with Auto Focus was the BIGGY! K790/800 offered newer, smaller & faster memory M2 slot, BEST PIC and better camera interface - a serious consideration to get than just a regular 3.2MP Camera Shooter (Not talking about Canon A-line; ie A75/80). This K850i offers newer CyberShot interface (Much better than the K810; which is just a fill-in really) with HSDPA, 2MP MORE which SHOULD be as significant as the jump from K700 to K750 was.

Does anyone know what kind of music player is on it ? Someone said it's a walkman 2.0 version, but those were just rumours.

I doubt it'll have Walkman 2.0, simply cuz it's not a W series phone. It'll maybe have a non-branded MP3 application which is similar to Walkman 2.0 though?

I don't get it. Where are the 2 soft keys? Lol. And why is the keypad shoved into the numbers as well? Lol.

I think I'll stick with my K800i. I think I'll even keep my K800i. It does enough for me Maybe wait till the K850i price drops, then I'll get it

THANK YOU FOR THIS LINK!!!!

SOft touch keys 1 at the top for selection.

This is incredible, that UI BETTER SHIP!!!

However this is bad news for those that wish to play games on that unless the 5 key becomes the selection substitute.

It seems the DUAL-FRONT concept lives ON!
