I have heard that the P1i is faster than the P9901 and the M600i.

That might be true but i don't know about that since the P1i is the frist smartphone i have ever got.....But its actually slow to me.

It take about 2-4 seconds to load something as simple as the main menu and file manager. Also the web browser is way to slow. it takes almost doble the amout ofthe time it takes to load the main menu. Its not the Wifi cause my Wifi is fast so the web browser should be fast right?

I think SE should fix this.

Wow, just been playing with my P1i, what a nice phone, so much quicker than the p990 and all the nice parts of the M600 without being made of tupperware. I forgot how much I liked the today view and the fact that you can dial numbers without doing auything special.

-i can delete multiple messages with no issues..(no errors at all)

-the phone is not suppose to vibrate when in the charger...(that's an se thing.

-i have the isync plugin if anybody needs it... it's being working fine for me.... crashed once or twice at most..

-messages by default are saved to phone.. you can manually store them to sim i believe (i have about 600 sms in the inbox and the equvilant in the outbox

-the person that is getting numbers and not contacts... maybe it's reading from the sim and the contact number is conflicting? try to delete you contacts in sim and copy them over again..

-i can also set a different homepage on my main browser...(is your phone branded?)

-ringtones and sms always change for me....

-MR-- i don't even have an "other" field.. how about "pager"?

new bug found:

when you change time zones (and adjust the clock manually) the "old" time is still used when displaying what time a [new] SMS was received.

I went from the EU to China, changed to local time manually (which is of course displayed on the standby screen). Now when I receive an SMS the telephone still assumes I am in the EU. So although in fact I receive an SMS at 21:00 local time, my SMS inbox says it was received at 15:00.

it isnt a bug. the time stamp in inbox is corresponding to the time origin where the sms has come.

althought u r in china, but u receive sms from ur country origin, say EU, the time shown will be EU time instead of china. unless if u receive sms from where u r in, say from china, the time stamp will be china's time.

opera mini can download files too, proceed as normal and it will get helped downloading files from the built in opera browser.

but can anyone change homepage?

^ the SMSs received with the wrong time stamps are from local (Chinese) contacts, on the same time as me.

so probably, instead of changing the time manually when moving between time zones, you actually have to set a new time zone as your "present location" or you'll get the wrong time stamp? perhaps not a bug but it is significant to how the UIQ OS works (so smart its dumb).

Sorry mate,
there's no bug there. Had you done your research, you would have found out than any smartphone is slower than a normal phone.
Now you might gain a little speed witha firmware upgrade, but don't expect to get the same thing as on a 'dumbphone' (normal phone).

Hi all,

first post here (and it starts with a problem).

I have the following problem with the Music Player on my P1i:

I have appr. 980 songs (ripped in AAC+ 64 kBit) on a 4GB SanDisk M2 stick.
When I press play in the Music Player it takes more then 5 minutes before the first song starts to play. When I go to the next (or previous) song manually, it takes also a couple of minutes before that song starts to play. If I do not touch the controls after the first song starts, it works most of the time perfectly (except the startup delay).

I tried to rerip my music in different formats (mp3, m4a, aac, aac+). I also tried to rip them with or without tags.

In addition I used a 2GB (instead of the 4GB) stick.

It does not matter at all. The more songs you have on the phone the longer it takes to start playing.

Using the same M2 stick (with the same number of files) in my SE W880i works without any problems.

So it looks like the P1i has a serious problem with the performance of the Music Player.

I also opened a case with SE but I did not get an answer up to now.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Freebird do you have it set to auto update every time the app starts?

@Freebird,

I've also got a P1i with Sandisk 4mb M2 stick. I've got about 800 tracks saved to the disk. I'm not experiencing any problems with the phone when I open the Media Player and no latency when selecting tracks to play.

As DragonEye says, have you checked your settings?
