Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

1: Importance of Afternoon prayer

Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: He who misses the afternoon prayer, it is as though he has been deprived of his family and his property.

Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth#1306

2: Curse of the Prophet(PBUH) regarding middle prayer

Yahya heard 'Ali saying that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said on the day (of the Battle) of Ahzab, while sitting in one of the openings of the ditch: They (the enemies) have diverted us from the middle prayer till the sun set. May Allah fill their graves and their houses with fire, or their graves and stomachs with fire.

Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth#1313

3: Saying the Asar Prayer After Sunset

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Umar b. al-Khattab had been cursing the pagans of the Quraish an the day (of the Battle) of Khandaq (Ditch). (He came to the Holy Prophet) and said: Messenger of Allah, by God, I could not say. the 'Asr prayer till the sun set. Upon this the Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: By Allah I, too, have not observed it. So we went to a valley. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) performed ablution and we too performed ablution, and then the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said the 'Asr prayer after the sun had set. and then said the evening prayer after it.

Sahi Muslim, Book of Prayers, Hadeeth#1318

NOTE: By mentioning the above Hadeeth, there is no way I am implying that we can delay our asar prayer even after sunset. The above hadeeth was mentioned in the circumstances of war where the Muslims were on a constant look-out for pagans of the Quraish so that they don't cross the khandaq. Beside, there is another hadeeth of the holy Prophet (PBUH) stating that the best among you is the one who offers his/her prayers at the proper time. Allah knows the best.

[b]4: Testimony by the Angels about a praying Muslim

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Angels take turns among you by night and by day, and they all assemble at the dawn and afternoon prayers. Those (of the angels) who spend the night among you, then, ascend, and their Lord asks them, though He is the best informed about them: How did you leave My servants? -they say: We left them while they were praying and we came to them while they were praying.

5: Importance of Prayers before sunrise and sunset

Umara b. Ruwaiba reported on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: He who said prayer before the rising of the sun and its setting would not enter the fire (of Hell), and there was a man from Basra (sitting) beside him who said: Did you hear it from the Apostle of Allah (way peace be upon him)? He said: Yes, I bear witness to it. The man from Basra said: I bear witness that I did hear from the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) saying it from the place that you heard from him.

6: Hadeeth Qudsi # 19
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said:Pride is My cloak and greatness My robe, and he who competes with Me in respect of either of them I shall cast into Hell-fire.

[Abu Dawud (also by Ibn Majah and Ahmad) with sound chains of authority. This Hadith also appears in Muslim in another version.]

Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

Hadeeth Qudsi # 20
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"The gates of Paradise will be opened on Mondays and on Thursdays, and every servant [of Allah] who associates nothing with Allah will be forgiven, except for the man who has a grudge against his brother. [About them] it will be said: 'Delay these two until they are reconciled; delay these two until they are reconciled.'"

[Muslim (also by Malik and Abu Dawud).]

Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu ...

Hadeeth Qudsi # 21
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah the Almighty said:

'There are three (1) whose adversary (enemy) I shall be on the Day of Resurrection: a man who has given his word by Me and has broken it; a man who has sold a free man (2) and has consumed the price; and a man who has hired a workman, has exacted his due in full from him and has not given him his wage.'"

(1) i.e. types of men.

(2) i.e. a man who has made a slave of another and has sold him.

[Bukhari (also by Ibn Majah and Ahmad ibn Hanbal).]
