Based on my past experience Sony will not honor the warranty if the product was not purchased from an authorized dealer. What I posted is also straight from Sony`s website.
If you want to risk it, that is your choice.

Theres no reason for them to not cover from a unauthorized dealer unless it was from out of country. It's not like they are selling fake Xperia phones out there and even then, when you call in for warranty, they ask for your phones serial number in the system and they will cover it as long as the phone was sold through Sony USA.

According to insurer Asurion, AT&T will carry the Sony Xperia ZL, while the HTC One is indeed coming to Verizon, as per AllThingsD.

Yea I know. Things aren't too good between AT&T and Sony.
But maybe that guy is right ? We should wait n see
