I'd rather they said "I don't Know" than trying to feed you some made up information. At least they are honest, which in my opinion is far better customer service.

Everybody,

I just received an email replied from Sony Ericsson regarding the online upgrade service. Here is the email content.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Dovern,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Center.

In response to your enquiry, the K700i is unfortunately not compatible
with the Sony Ericsson Update Service. It is likely that in the
process of us creating the K700i site you managed to log on while it was
still being developed and not yet complete. The site is finished and
accurate now.

Best Regards,
Bruce Ewart
Sony Ericsson Call Center

Any comment about this email???? I dont really understand what he mean....

He claimed K700 not compatible with this service, but one or more of our member managed to upgraded it via the site when it was available.

Just got my cradle today... this is the bad news for me...

With so many members on this forum, some of which I am sure have 'contacts' that can get inside info, I am surprised that we cannot get a difinitive answer to this question. Has anyone tried calling their local SE callcentre or anyone high up in SE to get an answer?

@ Cytech: Do you have any contacts that can answer this question ...?

Why are people constantly moaning about this ??

So someone bought some synchstations (I did too) well aware that nothing about the updateservice had been officialy announced.

Who's problem/fault is this ? - thats our own problem - noone elses.

At no point ever did S//E officially say that there was an onlineupdate service - nor that there ever would be one.

We just happened by accident to stumble upon some info that they are working on it.

So youve waited a week - so what ??
People are still able to freely update in the service centres.

Try to put things in the right perspective and have some patience will you. Stop emailing them all the time - stop moaning - just give them time and peace to work. Stressing them with constant emails etc. will NOT speed up anything. If enough people send immature emails complaining that its not working yet - you might even eventually risk they deside they dont want the hazzle and simply stop developing this service.

Everyone will know in time if and when this service will be available and functioning.

We know we can freely upgrade the firmware in service center but a lot of us just curious about this service, we want to try to do thing ourself and see how much convenient it bring to us.

Email SE to let them know we are expecting the service is not wrong thing to do but we are actually providing feedback and tell them this is the service we want.

Customer feedback is crucial to lead a company success.

Thats true dovern

but the problem is most does not email S//E letting them know what they wish for - but instead email them complaints or questions why this is not working and will it work for their particularly branded firmware etc etc etc. for a service that is officially not existing. This must be very annoying for those at S//E that has to constantly reply.
Noone can answer these questions yet. No reason to talk about contacting people higher up in S//E to try and get inside info.

Im quite sure S//E are aware that customers would like to see this update service allready. Even without a thousand extra emails.

The point is also - why keep moaning about it in this thread like some do - theres nothing to moan about. The service is not officially announced - this is the key here - no reason to keep asking "Ive waited a week, how long must I wait" or "I bought a synchstation - I feel cheated cause its not working" or whatever some feel.

All of this is hypothetical - there is no update service for K700 at the moment. We can hope there will be - but thats it.

I've been searching around, but to no avail, but has anyone been able to upgrade the firmware on a branded K700i? Inparticular the O2 branded ones?

not sure where I can try, if anyone knows anywhere in Birmingham...?

thanks!
