Hello guys, sorry if this sounds stupid.
In the FAQ provided with the game, it says
"How can I customise the list of teams and ant names?
Have a look in d:\documents\soldierants\english\teams.dat. It is a text file which can be editted in WordPad.Each language has its own list of teams"
How do I edit the names as I cant seem to edit them from my P800 phone and when I send it out as attachment to my email acc (yahoo), the attachment comes out in an unrecognizable format?

You want to get hold of Epoc's file manager. That will give you proper access to the files on your phone from your PC.

My guess is that yahoo is unhappy because the file has the extension .dat. It is just plain text, save it to your hard disc and open it up in WordPad.

I never really understood the need to do all this file-editing. You can edit the team and ant names directly within the game by just tapping on the team name in the game setup sceen. This takes you to the team setup screen, where you can tap on the team name or ant names and use the pop-up keyboard that appears.
Do you get some extra functionality by going the file-editing route?

If you always want to play the same team then there is no sense altering the files at all.
If you want to choose between 10 of your own teams then it is useful.
Of course I could change the way it all works so that any changes to the teams you make are permanent. So if you select Super Models and change the team to Dictators that is permanent. I think Id prefer it this way.

Tom, I'm using Sman, cant I edit the team names using this application? If not, pls direct me to the application that you recommended (as I cant find it in My Symbian website)
I've managed to open the file in my hardisk using Word Pad, so do I have to edit the team or can I just add on to team list?
Once I've finsihed editing, how do I transfer the file back into my P800?
Thanks for the support

This file manager allows you to access the files on your phone as if it was just an external hard drive. It makes everything really straight forward.

Hello Tom/ Floss, was just browsing esato and came across this thread, I tried the demo and then bought the game and it's fantastic. What is more fantastic is that all the game mods have been implemented by you as requested. If only software developers did this all the time we would have no reason to complain.
I joined Esato years ago but lost my password so only a few posts now!
Do you know any other developer that is a responsive as you and would post on Esato. Also big thanks to Esato for being the one consistant SE site that works and is useful. It is my first port of call when browsing for P900 stuff.
Have you ever been hassled by the makers of Worms? Just a thought, I don't understand the copyright laws. Anyway your game is very very good and the only game I have for my P900. I can see long days at work being a little better now.
So just to say thank you for showing that some people do listen and do care what their customer think.
One last question. I have just got v1.15, how do I get further updates? are they emailed or do I have to go to MSymbian and do something. Are you going to keep updating?
Thank you
Jake

Not really. I spend so much time making games I don't have any left over to play much these days! I believe the guys behind Legacy are quite a good bunch tho'.
> Have you ever been hassled by the makers of Worms?
No problems there at all. Worms itself is not an original game, its just a twist on a very early game which had two tanks firing shells over a hill.
> I have just got v1.15, how do I get further updates?
I have started hosting all the updates and map packs on my website (www.smartmobilegames.com). You can upgrade through my-symbian but I don't know how.
> Are you going to keep updating?
Yes, I am still updating the game. I have some new products to work on but I still give some time to Soldier Ants. There are some tweaks to the game on the way and more maps.
Cheers,
Tom
